Ace! This is something I've wanted to do myself for ages - I've already got this working with my personal James Horner WAD that I use with the original ;)

Really liking the changes so far, but the speech would be nice.

Keep it up!

But for others, it may be what they fondly remembered.

See if you can update the speech in that game. What's annoying to one, is a reason for living to another.

Regarding music, perhaps it shouldn't have any? The ambiances would be enough, and would fit the atmosphere better. AvP has no music, and only ambiances, so it could probably work out.

Avp (1999) does have music.

I was talking about the 1994 jaguar one. Still, doesn't lack of music sound like a good idea? (just play it with the music off, it works quite well)

I was going to include music from the film and the 1999 avp game but it bumped the filesize up considerably, maybe i should release a music pack?

I miss the speech. It's one of the many things that made the TC really stand out for me, back then. IMO.

Agreed. The speech for me is important enough to make or break this edit and, IMO, not having it does break it.

Wow this is interesting. My own project started off as a tweaked version of this very same TC. I edited the Marines and Aliens to be more balanced and changed how the Xenomorphs attacked the player. I also went in and fixed a bunch of alignment issues, though it may not look so good anymore this really was top of the line in the early 90's. Shortly after I tweaked the first map slightly for multiplayer I came up with the idea of AVM. However it wasn't until I fully re-discovered Aliens Online that I seriously started developing the idea further... Are those weapon sprites from Aliens Trilogy? They look pretty good!

Any project set within the "Aliens theme" has got my vote of confidence. Keep it up! I can send you all the textures from AVP1 if you want them. Though seriously lack detail in more than one area.

One thing I want to address (and I'm surprised no one has brought this up) is that the shotgun looks REALLY ugly. I know that's not Bens fault but still it should be addressed, so here's a cleaned up spritesheet I whipped up today.
atshot.png
-removed most of the ugly speckling
-removed black outlining around the hands and muzzle flash
-added a woodgrain texture to the stock.

And here's a alternate version that adds a matte texture to the receiver.
atshotalt.png
It's not perfect, but it's better than what is used in the wad right now.

As for the other weapons:
-The pistol also needs some clean up (not as much as the shotgun needed) and the gun in the reloading frame needs detailing.
-The other weapons look fine they just need the black outline removed from the hands.
