Survivial Horror First Moon

Post by Drake Raider »

I was wondering how the zdoom community would respond to a Dead-Rising style survival horror game. It involves a puzzle, a single map, a time limit, and an ever-increasing monster count into the thousands. No screenies yet, will add. Oh, and the monsters have their own little puzzles to solve to kill them.

Entering the hellscape.

Screenshot problem fixed.

EDIT:

Next version. I don't remember the changes. Sorry.
This is also the final version until later.

EDIT:
And here it is:

I'm playing a sort of game with the players myself, part of the game is to figure out how to survive, not just winning or escaping, or bloodbathing. You can't kill a thing if you can't figure out how. Use the screenshots as hints.

The forum rules demand screenshots or some proof that you are actually working on this. You have 48 hours, after which this is going to just get merged into the Project Ideas thread.

Holy cow that revolver is massive!

Levels look bland, and Doom and Blood artstyles don't merge too well :?

I know. wrw modified.
Levels look bland,
A bit. Lot of copy/paste. It is nicer during the daytime. It has a day/night, cycle you see.
Doom and Blood artstyles don't merge too well
I know. But I needed huge bat and wolf anthros, and blood had them.

I have to zip and upload it, than I will post the link.

It looks okay. Could be fun. But did you have to use that fucking shotgun!?

Also, I wouldn't recommend having both centred and angled weapons in the same MOD. Ther are centred versions of that shotgun and sniper rifle, actually.

But did you have to use that fraking shotgun!?
When I get around to uploading it (Sorry, internet problems+forgetfulness+full schedule), It has 5 different shotguns, none of which are notoriously useful, but all of which are good in their own respects. You can use the ones you prefer. I happen to like that one, myself. Though I will see what I can do about centeredness.

You might want to check into how many of those five shotguns are redundant. Sounds to me like you've got a mild case of weapon overflow, but I might also be jumping the gun (pun not intended), owing to my having not played it yet and all.

Picky Picky. You don't even know if there's zombies yet (there aren't in this one...).
I was referring to 100s of monsters, free roam, time of day and time limit. Oh, and minor melee combat. Though not much.

EDIT: four shotguns, not five. Miscount. Though, as two of them can be dual-wielded, you might count it as six.

please don't use that revolver it is awful. The hand is way to small for it, Whoever initially put it together has no idea about how things should look.

The worst part is that, during the idle frame, the hand appears too large for it. The gun changes size in the middle of the firing state.

There are loads of good revolvers around in the Resources forum. Just need to look for them.

At some point, the weapons will either be all centered or all angled. I like centered better, personally, but I haven't found centered versions of all the weapons, i.e. sniper rifle, dual-wielded weapons. Also, work is in process(here meaning almost done...) for a sequel, with more enemies, bosses, and more maps, which is also in dire need of total center/angleification. However, wrw is not the best resource wad. I used it for some of the sprites and sounds, but built my own code. The game's first version will be uploaded shortly. Oh, can anyone help me with writing a script to trigger on player death? And I want it to change which one it executes throughout the game.
