Actually, I do know. Rounding errors, and the last on the list is given whatever's left over. So if you have more choices that are rounded up than rounded down, then the last choice runs in the negative; and inversely if there are more choices that are rounded down than up, then the last in the list gets an undeserved boost. But that's not fun.
You have, by far, the greatest talent to to make the simplest things to turn into wonders. My kudos to you once more on a simple yet unique and fun mod.
I'm torn between admiration and terror.
One part of me is saying "F**k yeah, block patterns in ZDoom, awesome !" and the other part is saying "OH GOD THE BLOCKS THEY HAVE FOLLOWED US". Also, I hate my connection. Did I mention I hate my connection already ? Well I do. I hate it. Hate, hate, hate, hate, hate it. HAAAAAATE

In terms of putting the new stuff in the WAD? I think the sprite artists on my forum are keen on having the new robot masters in so I'll probably get around to them eventually.

Really no worse than most of the original NES games, or it's immediate predecessor MM9. And most good NES games were frustratingly hard. If I had to guess, probably born out of the arcade tradition of devising coin guzzling machines.
I have to admit, with mm9 and 10 they did add some extra cheesy bits that just make you think "oh come on". I.e those enemies that come from dangerous pits and knock you down right away if you forget they appear there. Sure they were in mm4 and did the same thing but they were much slower and scarce.

4? That had those in first game. Almost the oldest trick in the book. The path of NESer is the path of rampant memorization as to which pits will be more pro-active in instigating your death (substitute "which stairs have the most goddamned bats" or other game appropriate piece).
I was specifically talking about those enemies that rise up from the pits and fall down again, making it impossible to cross unless you take them out and quickly hop over. But yeah pretty much any other enemy can pull that stunt. Ninja Gaiden was the worst for that
To me, the absolute worst in fake difficulty is MM3. Trial-and-error gameplay, unclear hitboxes and useless weapons (Top Spin anyone ?), instant-death zones galore, boss weaknesses that made no sense whatsoever and passages that are outright impossible to go through without losing health. The music was awesome though.
