I'm pretty sure it's the rain bogging you down. Try downloading this modified map:Chris wrote:My 233 gets about 10fps playing this demo at 640x400, at most, using v47(it's much worse in 47i).
It looks really cool, though. Can't wait to play it smoothly.

Then bind a key (I suggest something obscure) to puke script 58. This script manipulates the amount of rain, in increments of 10 between 0 and 40 (map defaults at 20). If everything is done right, it'll indicate the new value when pressed. Bringing it down to 0 should speed things up.

It should. I ran it through WARM and BSP prior to uploading. I'll put together another map with the hud disabled tomarrow, and see if that does any good.Chris wrote:Does it have a properly built REJECT?
The BFG Zero upgrade is the Wraithverge. I never found the Bloodscourge very useful, 3 out of 4 times it would impact on the closest wall instead of the nearest enemy.

I know how the hexen weapons work, do you think I based my statement on what I thought without actually knowing that it was the wraithverge (indeed I checked while I was playing (setslot) out of curiosity)wildweasel wrote:Cyb, I think you have it wrong.
WRAITHVERGE shoots a large mass of spirits that attack enemies until they disappear.
BLOODSCOURGE fires three homing fireballs.

Try this map:Chris wrote:Nope. :/ Even turning off the rain completely, I get poor performance. Part of me has a feeling it's the custom HUD, although I can't be sure.

Puke script 59 to toggle the extra hud on/off. You might consider trying the rain script again (script 58), as I made a change. Even with the rain set to 0, the rain generator script would still run every tic. Now, it delays the script 70 tics when the rain is set to 0.

And always remember and never forget (heh) that playing zdoom in a window slows it down a lot...I'm talking about a full-size window. Be sure to go into the display options and use "fullscreen".Hirogen2 wrote:If you ever played Tormentor's TNT, Part 3 you know what causes slowdowns. Masses of snow or rain particles (things).
I know Hirogen2 knows this, but some others may not yet.
