It's really not birdshot anymore. Birdshot is a whole bunch of tiny pellets, right? While buckshot is just a small number of larger ones? Ever since cutting down on the amount of pellets fired by the shotgun (for performance purposes), it didn't feel right calling it birdshot anymore.chronoteeth wrote:But arn't birdshot rounds in green shells?

Cory Whittle's are the ones that I used to have in here. These were taken from the Tainted Decorum remix - they appear to be based on the shell casing graphics in the Doom alphas.

Whatever is coming out of that shotgun is way too lethal to be birdshot.

They're also CW's work. They're from the more recent Don's Challenge 1 demo.

The new shells look nice and all, but in all honesty, I hate that shotgun's sprites. Mostly it just looks kinda weird and ugly. Diaz's hands also look pretty pudgy on that shotgun sprite too. I can't say I care much for its sound either. It really doesn't even sound like a shotgun.

I didn't think it was as polished as the other sprites in the game, it kinda has a flat look to it. Also the click to shoot, click to eject shell thing really threw me, couldn't get used to it... All of the other weapons are very cool though (I finally cheated on this the other day to check out the weapons) - that psi amp thing is crazy =)

I like the way the shotgun functions, but it does look a little plain and simple compared to the other weapons. Perhaps just take the base sprite and add detail to it?

I think the shotgun could use a hand somewhere or a bent-upwards angle? I will admit there aren't a lot of shotguns with these angles anymore...

You could use that old spaz 12 from the older versions, or something new, like that shotgun from that redneck deer huntin' game.
While we're on the subject of sprites, the mega weapon of the mod doesn't feel "flashy" enough. The sprites are fine and so is the attack, but it just shoots plain balls with no fanciness, or stuff to make em prettier like maybe a trail or something. The BFG seems more visually appealing than this it feels like.
I know this mod is all for balance, but the big gun's supposed to feel like a big gun, not a normal gun.
