Low priority, but would be nice.

I'd say this could be done when the monsters are finally converted to DECORATE.

Are someone doing this Decorate conversion? Would be nice if ZDoom.Wad comes with a Decorate with all the actors defined, like its SNDINFO and another lumps. You could also replace existing actors...

Nothing will happen until the next version. But it is certainly on the 'To do' list. For most of the stuff in the EXE it will be rather trivial. Only some of the more complex monsters and weapons require class-specific coding which really is the only true obstacle.

*bump*

If someone is willing to write the obituaries for Hexen and Strife monsters I could add them.

There are no official definitions yet - but these sound good. The bosses are still missing though.

Some Strife ones I thought up.

Code: Select all

[The Order]

Acolytes: Player was zealously shot down by an Acolyte.

[The Resistance]

Macil: Player should have never rebelled against Macil.
Rebels: Player was gunned down by a Rebel.

[The Oppressed]

Beggars: Player was beaten to death by the poor.
Peasants: Player should have never picked fights with civillians.

[The Antagonists]

Alien Spectres: Player was struck down by the <alien spectre name>. *1

Entity: Player felt the wrath of The One God. *2

Lore Master: Player couldn't escape from the Lore Master's grasp.

Programmer: Player was deleted by the Programmer.

Strife Bishop: Player was blown away by the Bishop.

[The Machines]

Sentinel: Player was shot down by a Sentinel.

Crusader: Player was burned to a crisp by a Crusader. / Player was blown to smithereens by a Crusader.

Inquisitor: Player was shot down by an Inquisitor. / Player was bombed by an Inquisitor.

Stalker: Player was bugged by a Stalker.

Ceiling Turret: Player was gunned down by a ceiling turret.

Templar: Player was clawed by a Templar. / Player was vaporized by a Templar.

Reaver: Player was sliced open by a Reaver. / Player was shot down by a Reaver.

*1: I'm not sure what to name the alien spectre.

*2: I assume it is The One God. I haven't finished Strife yet.

Death Wyvern: Player was incinerated by the Death Wyvern.
Heresiarch: Player had no hopes of beating the Heresiarch. alternate: Player didn't stand a chance to the Heresiarch.
Zedek (Fighter boss): Player stood no chance to the Marshal of The Legion.
Traductus (Cleric Boss): Player was humbled down by the Grand Patriarch of the Church.
Menelkir (Mage Boss): Player had his mind blown away by the Arch-Mage of the Arcanum.
Korax: Player has been utterly annihilated by Korax's power.

It would be 'chance against' not 'chance to'.

I don't like that "had no chance against" ones -- they're too generic. Surely there're better descriptions for how the player died to these enemies?

I agree. I also think there's no reason to use their titles instead of their names, but maybe that's just me.

...

"Player was swept from the board by Korax."
