Alot of 3D FPS's tend to be shit easy on hard. Half-Life was UBER easy on Hard(as were its counterparts, Opposing Force, Azure Sheep, etc.). Halo was easy on Legendary(Fuck, half it is just running fast enough anyway). Quake 2 was pretty easy, and Quake 3 runs like shit on my system(64MB graphics card that does 1 million triangles a second OMG! O_O) but I managed to beat half of it on nightmare. However, Ghost Recon 2 has to be one of the hardest FPS's I've played. I mean shit, I still haven't even beaten the first level =/. I still haven't played Doom 3 on any of the other difficulty modes; I haven't got around to it.Belial wrote:I have a Watson mp3/cd and it was really cheap. Quake has unique gameplay. Period. Doom is something completely different. You can't even compare the two when it comes to DM. Quake's SP also has it's fair share of 1337ness which comes mainly from monster reactions and engine physics. The only problem I have with Quake is that it's shit easy to play, even on Nightmare.
Support 3D Floors and dynamic lighting?

probably offtopic here...
A not so cheap solution for an mp3 player would be the psp... they work nicely as an mp3 player. plus it is a bit more functional than an ipod(i hate ipod...) so keep that in mind. If you want a portable web browser with music, movie, and gaming options. give psp a try...

Q2 is shit easy, Half-life was easy once I realized the best weapon is the pistol (BOOM HEADSHOT).
Q3 is kinda different since SP is a botmatch. I still haven't beaten Xaero on Hardcore (probably never will, since I've stopped playing it almost a year ago, IIRC I was somewhere in the middle of the 4th tourney on Nightmare when I quit).
Want hard, try Kingpin on Real. That was the only newer game that managed to give me a proper challenge.
@chaoscentral: Constant loss of health? That's just plain stupid.

Heh, it's still the best weapon in HLDM too.Belial wrote:Q2 is shit easy, Half-life was easy once I realized the best weapon is the pistol (BOOM HEADSHOT).
OH! For some fun in HL, when you go to battle Nihilanth, use the jumpers when he opens his..uh...skull, and land "inside" his head. Wack him with the crowbar & repeat until desired effects occur.

I tried to do that but I never could get high enough or close enough to him.
Playing Unreal ATM. Unreal difficulty has the description 'Death wish'. If I knew how to do it I'd change it to shit easy.
The hardest FPS I have ever beaten has to be Descent 2 on Insane. Now that game has some serious AI that can own even some modern games. Unreal's 'revolutionary' AI is weak when compared to D2's bots.
When I tried Descent 3 it just didn't have the right feel. Insane diffuculty was just plain unfair so I had to stick to Ace. The maps had nothing to do with D1's mines or D2's mazes. Huge, open, overscaled and boring. The cutscenes sucked big time, especially the player character. The only thing that was still there was the AI.

Clive Barkers Undying is pritty damn hard on the Normal skill. Those damn jumping demon type things! . But I know what you mean. Its not just FPS' either, most games are far too easy. That's why I like Devil May Cry... that was damn hard! . DMC 2 was a let down because that failed at the most cruical thing that DMC suceeded in... being really hard . I pissed through DMC 2... it had no challenge to it IMO.
I like Quakes enimies and some of its ideas. I think it would be cool to import quakes models into Doom and create something that looks and plays better than quake .
As for iPods... I call them an MP3 player. Lots of stupid people are saying the word iPod and using it to describe any MP3 player. Everyone says iPods are so great, but they're just like all the other MP3 players IMO... only difference is that iPods are overpriced!
My Sony CD player can play MP3's on a CD. I never use it for that... in fact, I don't really use it much at all these days. ATM its a static CD player plugged into my mixer... but it gives out such a quiet signal that its quite bad in a packed coach with lots of people shouting... I dunno, I never like to listen to music whilst walking to and from places... makes me feel that I've lost one of my survival instincts (my ears) and I get more paranoid when walking alone with music playing . That's why an MP3 player would be useless for me... I'd never use it .
As for the topic... what was it again? .
