IMMERSIVE TWEAKS FOR XIM-HELPERMARINES

Personal QoL overhaul for tactical/realism builds

>>> WHAT'S CHANGED:

* REALISTIC MOVEMENT: Marines move slower; heavier weapons = more speed penalty.

* SQUAD SURVIVABILITY: Permanently mortal, but regenerate over time. Value your teammates -- they won't solo the map anymore! (Fresh recruits available on next map like in "progressive" OG mod).

* HITBOX FIXES: No accidental friendly fire. Marines won't block monsters, and rocket splash won't kill you via your own squad.

>>> DOGMEAT COMPANION REWORK (Fallout 4-style):

* Unkillable -- no animal cruelty here c:
* Recovery system: After heavy damage, she limps away for 10 seconds (enemies ignore her), then returns at full health.
* Balanced combat: Improved hitbox, damage 8-20 (vs pistol's 5-15), mild recoil, more natural bite rate (The rapid-fire barking in the original mod annoyed me, :D).
* Role: Won't clear maps alone, but great at distracting monsters and covering your back.

This mod works with LZDoom and QuestZDoom. I play it in VR, so I love realistic things like this (maybe I should drop my immersive modpack someday)

Nice, nerfing them a bit is a good idea. I wish there was a way to make them like the BD marines though where they're potentially a more uncommon "powerup" you find here and there so you don't get an army quick. It's good that they're mortal too so you hopefully don't get too many at a time.

Actually, there is a mod for that, and I've given it a shot! I tried tweaking it a bit, but my 'vibe coding' skills just aren't there yet, haha. It adds a beacons every map that spawns three marines, but they're kind of terrible teammates — friendly fire is on, so you end up damaging each other!

Actually, in Xim’s mod, you can choose how many companions are active — if you enable them all at once, you’ll have a whole army. I usually roll with the dog, the medic, and the loader (backpacker). If I clear a map smoothly, one of them is bound to show up on the next level! Sometimes a map starts with total chaos, and these guys really save the day. Plus, you can loot them for resources and health if you barely made it through the last level :D
