As a sound designer, I'm especially interested in playing VR because of the binaural audio and immersion.
i believe the engine already tehcnically supports stereo rendering for VR in opengl mode (but not in vulkan mode), but doesn't support motion controls like the VR-focused forks, and i don't think any of the devs have experience with, nor proper hardware/space for VR development. (ex. i own a quest 2 headset myself but haven't had the free space to properly use it for over a year now)
that said, improvements to VR will be welcome from new contributors

Thanks for the info, Jay!

The most current VR fork is really good. https://github.com/emawind84/QuestZDoom/releases
I use VR regularly and spend 95% of that time modding Doom :D

I wonder if it's possible to run the new versions of GZDoom or UZDoom in a headset, but on a flat screen, as if you were streaming a game from a PC?

Where can I find early UZDOOM builds, particularly between 4.14.3 stable and 5.0.0-pre1? I'm trying to catch a nasty bug in the Brutal Doom mod that does not exist in 4.14.3 (and in GZDOOM), but is already present in 5.0.0-pre1 and in all later builds up to 5.0.0-pre163.

It's already been made. Look for UZDoom 4.14.3 here:

We don't have historical development builds available. You best bet is to open a detailed bug report here: https://github.com/UZDoom/UZDoom/issues. We can then find the source of the issue from there.
