You can try it yourself.. If you download the brand new GZDoom and the brand new UZDoom and compare them, you will hear the difference.. UZDoom has a completely different sound quality in the menu and in the game.

Slow down, you triple posted.

People are obviously not having the same problem as you or there'd be more eyes on it.

Also going "it doesn't work" over and over isn't going to make the problem go away. Give them something to work with.

Did you read it at all, or did you just write something? I just wrote what my problem is and there's no way to explain it any better.

I did read "it" over and over again and I still don't quite get it. Don't be so rude.

I deleted everything and downloaded a brand new UZDoom, which I unpacked into a folder and everything I need is there.
I didn't do anything with the settings, everything is on default.
I didn't say you were stupid. However, I'm not a mind reader. You didn't say what you had done (aside from "everything") so how is anyone who is trying to help you to know what you have done? If you want help, you need to provide enough information for people to know how to help.

Calm down please. People are actually trying to help you and you are getting angry with them. I understand the frustration, but I won't accept you taking it out on others.

There is a way to explain it better. I specifically asked you to describe how the sound in GZDoom was "better". There are many things that "better" could cover - is it a problem with volume, crackling, distortion, what? Could you record a video of how it sounds?

As I have already said, I have compared UZDoom to GZDoom and they sound identical. I have tried downloading UZDoom - and I have tried both using my old GZDoom ini for its settings and with a fresh UZDoom ini. Both sounded fine. To be clear, both versions of GZDoom and UZDoom that I compared are the "brand new" ones.

The only time I have had weird sound from UZDoom was a couple of weeks ago when I downloaded a build from GitHub that didn't have the required DLLs in the zip. When I ran that version without the DLLs, the sound was unusual (high pitched, very clipped - it sounded almost like the bleeps and bloops of a pre-soundcard game from 1991). My guess is that some DLL in my system folder was being used instead. Anyway, I located the correct DLL files and put them in my UZDoom folder and the sound was fine. So, that's why I suggested that. Given that you hadn't told me what you had actually tried, it was a reasonable guess.

I've already figured it out... In the sound settings there is something called HRTF... For some reason, both UZDoom and GZDoom have this setting on auto by default, and yet GZDoom worked normally for me, and in UZDoom I had to turn it off and it works as it should.

Now I don't know if I should report this as a bug.. Maybe someone else might have the same problem as me?
Sorry for being rude but I was already losing my mind over this.

I'm glad you got it sorted and thanks for reporting back. It could be useful information for someone else - the HTRF option is quite deep in the sound menu. I don't know why it is causing you problems (it's on "auto" for me too, and the sound is fine) but at least you have tracked it down to that setting.

It might be worth flagging it up as a bug (remember to include your hardware specs, they are probably relevant, as will be your ini file I suspect). At least that means the team will be aware of it and can investigate. Like I said, it works for me on "auto", so it could be hardware dependent, but it's very odd that it works for you on GZDoom. I assume that "auto" enables HTRF if your hardware supports it (I don't know for certain). So, why it works with GZDoom and not UZDoom... I really couldn't say.

And, please remember how we require people to speak to each other in future. If you are rude to other forum members again, I'll go strait to warnings and/or bans if they are merited, rather than politely asking you to calm down, but thank you for apologising.
