Absolute Beginner's "Getting Started w/ Modding" Guide

Post by dileepvr »

I've put together a html page for absolute beginners with little to no technical knowledge who want to get into GZDoom modding. It is styled like a series of exercises that the reader has to perform to progress. Hover mouse-pointer over the "Table of Contents" floating element to the top-right of the page to navigate between sections:

Serving mostly as a link you can offer to someone who comes in asking very basic questions that become tedious to answer. The guide is not for everyone, as some people get intimidated by walls of text. But this is the sort of thing I would have liked when I started.

The sections can be converted to proper forum posts and just put up here instead of being hosted on github-pages (feel free to do that!).

Critiques received so far:
1. Not everyone has been a fan of the Tufte handout formatting.
2. There is debate about introducing command line methods (happens only at the start before launchers are introduced).
3. Opening has too much meta fluff (I'm not insecure, I swear).
4. Groans about not introducing multiple ways of doing something.

I haven't received any feedback from actual newbies who went through the guide, and I'd like to value that more.
