Well, we do have two Ice Themed things already (Algor, and Druid's Warg) so that one's unfortunately out on theme. I know you say you'd like more, but two was a strict limit I had from a while back. Cocytus is also Ancient Greek, not too Christian or Crusader related (haha), and our Crusader is more of the Byzantine persuasion in any case.
neto592 wrote: Mon Sep 16, 2024 11:29 am I believe all the weapons from slot 3 and specially from slot 4 primary attack should always spend mana (both mana on 4th ones case) but being stronger that they are now. Regardless if they are melee ones (with its mutations spending even more mana and being even more powerful or more useful).

I think the 3th weapons as a tactical weapons and the 4th ones as strategic (Doom deliverance) ones. Their primary attack should focus their limitations on cost instead of nerfing their power.
Unfortunately, I'll have to veto that, I do prefer it the other way round, mana-free if it's melee, and making the fire modes different to one another in speed and power and other stuff so each has merits, and one of my other goals was to ensure that Walp was still reasonable and not Russian Overkill/Trailblazer level. I love those mods, don't get me wrong, but super OP was never in Walps remit. Powerful, sure, absolutely, but this is counterbalanced by the upgraded bestiary and other stuff you can add in. I always wanted a feeling that even though the player feels strong, they were also never totally free of danger either.

Handily enough, you can read all the original books for free online with Project Aon. Lone Wolf is quite an edgy lad when I look back on him as I am today (lol) but he was effortlessly cool to me as a teenager reading the books. :D
EpikFaleEsq117 wrote: Mon Sep 16, 2024 4:57 pmAbout the Sun-and-Star being another sword – that’s a completely fair point, yeah. I did think about that about halfway through. But you hurt my feelings about Quietus: I wouldn’t want that weapon to change for anything. I think your Quietus is one of the coolest weapons I’ve ever used in a game ever. I’m not kidding. Everything about it is just perfect.
Oh don't get me wrong, even though I love the Sommerswerd, I wouldn't change the current Quietus for anything. :D
EpikFaleEsq117 wrote: Mon Sep 16, 2024 4:57 pmIt’s a kind of weird point to argue, but I’ve always loved how the Cleric’s hands look when using Firestorm. I mean, if I could have everything, some extra frames of animation would be nice. There’s just something I like about its weird, blood-red outline, and the “super-magical” star shapes when it’s firing. But now I’m ranting.
Nah, you're right, there is something about it that is appealing, which is why it's still around. Just a small artsy-fartsy part of me is always ranting "Not like flames! Reeeee!" :D
EpikFaleEsq117 wrote: Mon Sep 16, 2024 4:57 pmAnyway, I’m having a ton of fun playing through Hexen over and over again with your mod. It’s an absolute blast. Crusader’s where it’s at.
Glad you're enjoying it. And when you get tired of the new versions of the Hexen Bosses, you can then run over to Doom and Heretic too. :)

Hi.

The shield of the new 4th weapon of Crusader will block for a period longer than 4/35 of a 1 second (4 frames)?

it seems you really have something against the Crusader(Cleric).

You are underpowering him to much :(

You should take in account that on Youtube 99% of Walpurgis mod videos (that are not done by yourself) are using Druid or Figther.

Anyone who says the Crusader is underpowered is delusional. I'm pretty sure he could clear most maps with just the Storm Spear, never mind Heavensever. :D Heck, if I'm ever a bit on the fence about whether I could clear a megawad due to difficulty, I will play that one with Crusader.

It's just that he really rewards steady, methodical gameplay, and some people dislike that. Many Doom players are speedsters, so will gravitate to the Druid and Myrmidon.

Happy Holidays and all that.

Just to give a trivial update: I think I got myself an overload of Doom related stuff and needed a break, so it's currently on hiatus. I will try to eventually get 1.0 out the door, but earlier in the year I kept coming back, doing small things, and then running off again which wasn't helping really.

To be fair, part of that is just that I keep looking at 0.99 and going "it is basically done here" so I'm really just umming and arring about various utility stuff like the RPG mode (which I keep redesigning parts of all the time and not being happy with, lol), and whether to do a full replace of the Crusaders ult, and whether to program more monsters, etc. Where I had a clear plan for all the previous patches and their main features, I'm a bit directionless for what the finish up involves I suppose (oops).

When it comes to monsters, I think the current roster is pretty good, aside from if you wanted to replace the boss monsters for fantasy mode.
