Triggers are not recognized by GZDoom. Any fix that doesn't involve external mapping software of Steam controller overrides?

Xbox Series Controller - L and R-Triggers Don't Work
Hi!
L and R-Triggers from my Xbox Series Controller are not recognized by GZDoom. When I try to assign any of them to an action in the game (for example, in Doom or Doom II), nothing happens. In contrast, if I try to map any button, like A, B, X or Y, I'm able to. It's a bummer, because the R-Trigger is by far the most comfortable thing you can assign for shooting your gun. I'm sure my controller is not the problem, since the Triggers work fine when using the Dolphin emulator on my computer.
Any fix that doesn't involve external controller mapping software, including Steam's? If not, I'd love to see it fixed in a next release of GZDoom! I'm sure I'm not the only one using controller for GZDoom.

I'm using the latest developer version of GZDoom. I tried with many other versions from the archive, but I had the same results.
I'd also like to point out that when I use my controller to move around the menu in any Doom WAD with GZDoom, as soon as i use the dpad, the menu goes haywire and the selected option starts moving up or down indefinitely. This only stops when I press "Esc" enough times in my keybord until the menu options disappear.

You will have to find someone with a similar hardware config as yours for it to get fixed. I do not own a controller or a Mac and cannot do much here.

Same situation here and same setup -- I'm going to try to get some kind of additional debug info out of this and delve into building this.

It turns out that the triggers aren't *quite* matching as "axes" and instead as "simulation throttle and brake"..
