One other thing: i initially found out about your topic because i was curious about translating a recent free game that came out: Dr Robotnik's Ring Racers (https://www.kartkrew.org/), a racing game that uses a modified version of the Doom Legacy engine.
I don't know *anything at all* about Doom... from my recent searches i understand that there are several different Doom engines, and GZDoom is supposedly different from Doom Legacy, but since i don't know how, and that this knowledge would require tremennnnnnndous research into that subject... Well then i'm asking you.
How did you manage to export all text strings that needed be translated ? Did you do it by hand or through a script/several scripts ?
Do you think this technique could be used to extract translatable strings from another Doom-based game ? Does it matter if it uses a modified engine ?
Thanks in advance for your answers ! Don't hesitate to contact me in DMs or by mail (if that's even available to you)

Text extraction was all done manually. A large chunk of texts was already done by older ports and in-game texts were even in a quasi-exported state in the original already.
