Just stitching together some sprites. I'm not entirely sure what I want the arms/hands to be doing, but do plan on doing color variants for the Zombieman and Shotgunner, as well as variants without helmets.

It's been a while since i last posted something here. Don't know if sprite rips are still a thing around here, but i made this monstrosity nonetheless and decided to share it with you.

These are absolutely great. The digitization looks exactly like classic DOOM. If you don't mind sharing your secrets, how did you make these?

As of right now I follow this simple guide image I found a looong long time ago, made by Revae:azzymoof wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 12:28 am HorrorMovieRei wrote:

Spoiler:This is of course only the cliff notes, but it's a very beginner friendly method, since you don't need to be particularly modeling savvy to use Scultris, you can just 'sculpt and paint like you would with actual clay irl', in simple terms. It's very intuitive.
Of course, this image doesn't explain how you actually rig the model once it is imported into your 3D modeling software (in my case, I use Blender). So as supplementary material I would recommend watching this rigging tutorial:
Spoiler:And also maybe before everything also follow the Blender Donut tutorial series to help you get acquainted with how the program works and it's functions:
Spoiler:It's pretty lengthy, but he also makes it very easy to understand.
After I model, rig, animate and export the frames I touch them up further in photoshop. I usually have to mess with the levels to give them more contrast, and then the rest is a case by case situation. Sometimes the colors come out great straight out of the rendered images, sometimes I opt for greyscaling and painting over it in photoshop itself (by using a blending layer on top of the sprites, with a clipping mask applied) if I'm not satisfied.
Though I reckon someone more experienced could probably export the frames straight out of Blender already in a game-ready state, without the need for touch ups. I heard some of the sprite gods in this very forum know how to do that.
So that's my current method, though I am still aiming to improve further and not rely so much on sculpting. Hope I didn't spit too much jargon at you

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
It could just be me, but the Psychoman looks like he is doing what the military refer to as "tick tocking" (nothing to do with the similarly named social media app). i.e. when he walks, he moves the arm and the leg on the same side. Recruits when learning to march often do this. Normal walking usually involves moving the opposite arm to the leg. So, unless it's deliberate to make Psychoman look weird, I suggest changing it.HorrorMovieRei wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 6:52 pm Two enemies for a planed Freedoom TC: Psychoman and Esper
Other than that, both sprites look pretty cool.

Should be fine for that one. But I'll keep it in mind for the other hitscanners!
