The year is 2050.
Experiments with advanced dimensional warping has created deep fissures in our reality, causing monstrosities from parallel dimensions to bleed through ours.
You are Jack "Brute" Hughes, one of many mercenaries tasked with locating the epicenter of these dimensional wounds, sealing them permanently and destroying anything that comes out of it, codenamed "Inferno Suture".

Bat: Bat + nails = badass.
Bat with nails + faces = what a mess.
Hold primary fire to swing.
Amputator: Compact circular saw with a twist: the blade can be pneumatically launched with great momentum, bouncing off walls and cutting through whatever stands in its path for a few seconds. You'll have to pick the blade up again before you can shred your enemies again, and if you happen to lose it, you can always grab a new one from another Amputator or find it in a backpack.
Primary fire shreds bad guys in melee, secondary fire launches the blade.
GAT-38: Homemade pistol. This somewhat crude 9mm pistol may be garish to some, but looks can be deceiving - not only is it a smooth shooter, it also has a progressive trigger that lets it fire in bursts and features a bullet compressor that packs three bullets into a subsonic ricocheting projectile.
Tap primary fire to shoot once, hold to fire in continuous bursts.
Secondary fire uses 3 bullets to fire a stronger projectile that bounces off walls.
Slamfire riotgun: Full auto shotgun with pneumatic lockbreaker. A law enforcement-only 12 gauge shotgun, these turn up in the hands of bad guys more often than one might think. Very useful in short to mid range, though the four pellets in the ammo you find may not make it immediately apparent.
Hold primary fire to fire at a slow and steady pace.
Hold secondary fire to charge the lockbreaker. Its damage increases in increments of 25%, with a full 100% charge releasing a shockwave and making a mess of most targets in front of it.
Triple crown: Triple barrel shotgun. Another homemade weapon, but not one you've made. It feels surdy and reliable enough, taking standard 12 gauge shells and quickly putting down anything the riotgun can't. It also looks badass.
Primary fire for a somewhat inaccurate blast that uses three shells.
Secondary fire for a trio of accurate subsonic slugs useful at longer ranges.
EBS PDW: SMG with laser cutter. This one's a bit out there, a little 9mm lead spitter with a sophisticated laser on the side that works by converting heat from the barrel after firing into energy to power it. All you need to know is the bullets come out fast and the laser is so painful even big cyber'd up goons can't handle it.
Primary fire riddles your targets with bullets and starts charging the laser after 15 shots. Its rate of fire is reduced if the laser has a 100% charge.
Secondary fire turns the laser on. Great for stunlocking most monsters at short range.
NCL launcher: Nitricetylene launcher. When the going gets tough or you really want to ruin someone's day, reach for this. All around a good choice for handling crowds or particularly tough foes, just take care to not blow yourself up in the process.
Primary fire launches a particularly fast NCL canister with great impact damage.
Secondary fire uses up five canisters to fire a large cluster bomb that can bounce off walls, but explodes upon touching the ground or an enemy. The cluster bomb will explode into ten bomblets after exploding, each being a little weaker than the standard rocket.
HOIG Anti-Cannon: Plasma autocannon. More advanced than the standard fare, the Hoig is best described as an unholy mix of a plasma railgun with a machine gun that is almost too powerful. If whatever you point it at isn't dead after a volley, switch to its bigger brother immediately.
Primary fire rapidly launches powerful plasma bolts with no cooldown.
Secondary fire overloads the magnetic accelerator and fires a plasma slug that pierces through monsters and explodes upon hitting a hard surface for 25 cells. The gun must cool dowm for roughly a second afterwards.
Tachyon Crusher: Heavy plasma cannon. Think of it as a bigger, meaner and particularly voracious Anti-Cannon that might kill you if you use it in close range. Not much else known about this mysterious weapon, sadly.
Primary fire uses 50 cells and unleashes an explosive plasma ball that fires a number of beams that seek out and turn most monsters into chunky salsa from within.
Secondary fire releases a burst of heat-seeking plasma shots guaranteed to put down ANYTHING in its path.
