I said it on Youtube and i say it again.

Those. Lightmaps. (courtesy of the Disdain engine fork!)
(Also the other environmental effects and movement.)

It looks incredible, yet i have less the impression it is GZDoom-powered compared to many other excellent standalone games.

If anything, this once more highlights that, eh, we really need a Powered by GZDoom page somewhere because the amount of standalone titles on GZDoom tech is expanding rapidly.

So great that the community at large is crafting these new unique worlds away from Doom, yet still carrying its DNA alongwith it.

Pretty great so far! Some minor nitpicks:
  • I feel like it'd be cool if you could cancel out of the sword animation during the off-the-screen-after-swinging bit with a weapon swap, especially considering how responsive the weapon switching feels in general.
  • The barrier that prevents backtracking for a little bit at the very end of level 2 should probably use a different texture from the ending not-a-slipgate, to make it clear it's not a teleporter or an exit.
  • DM03 doesn't have a Player 1 Start, for what it's worth.

Demo was awesome! Everything feels great. Weapons were satisfying, enemies aggressive, levels were easy to navigate and had some surprises. The sounds for the floating heads felt super loud and made me target them first just to rid myself of the screaming, but that’s my only complaint!

Good stuff! I’m excited to see further development!

Hello to all you ZDoom dwellers, I decided I'd use my posts to show what I am working on for Disdain now let me find the screenshots for those of you who aren't on Nash's Discord which in my opinion is a huge mistake, how can you not be following this Man's work? But I digress it's time to try to remember just how the hell to post an image

Either GOG, or itch.io. I will look into non-Steam options as soon as I can!
