interpic with beavis faces on it, no spines unfortunately just some weird shapes and whatnot, not even bones in sight. drawn on paper and photographed onto the computer.

some key variations, don't see purple used much in sprites without people cheating and going off palette and for good reason. was a challenge to get the key looking good with such limited colour options. tried the skull and it's not as good in palette-friendly purple lol

I think it looks good. What don't you like about it?

It looks very skinny, and almost a little flat in shading. I would suggest to make him a little bit more buff and shade him heavier.

So, now that I've mastered Palette Studio in Blender, I tested it with the Hero Magmadon from Crash, looks legit like a demon.

"Nut Squad"/"Good Nut" player skin.

@osjclatchford: The forearms and shins of the Vampyr sprite you based this on has a darker red value than the white body. When you translated the thing, it makes it look like the forearms and shins of your imp doesn't have as much shading as the rest. Unless you intended those parts to be darker than the rest of the body. You'll have to manually lighten those parts up a bit so it matches the body. The spikes also lack contrast and looks flatter than the rest of the sprite. Otherwise the sprite looks right to me.

Ah! advice from the man himself!

yeah its the contrast isnt it...

and my bad for not mentioning that this is based from the vampyr... I thought I did that already...

TBH Its a pointless endeavour. the thing that really makes the vampyr stand out aganst the wight is more the colourscheme than the form tbh.
yes it has horns and spikes but its the colours that make it pop.

I thought I was being all clever and making a new imp out of it that had the thin/wirey look of the new imps from eternal and 2016 but in the doomimp colours.
no.
this just takes your beautiful design and makes it look like shit.
no; literally makes it look like its made from a turd. sigh...

I shall just leave it alone methinks...

nice work on nutty, mcpeanut head btw, really fun sprite!

I feel that would make for a great Doom 3 Imp base (ofcourse, credits to OSJC and to Amuscaria)

THATS where I was going wrong...
thanks for the inspiration Craneo. I'll use this as a prototype frame and make up the rest in the same ilk...
now you've put me right on this I'll get on it asap.
so expect some D3 style imps in this fashion from me soon then... ;)

*edit*

heres the current WIP...

feel free to use or whatever. its made from the vampyre sprites for HF episode 2, part of the free-to-use stuff Amuscaria released a while back, so is ok to be used afaik, if in doubt ask amuscaria first...

if you put the vampyre's blood stains back on the brown imp but give him the D3 imp face, you could have a pretty decent version of the D3 imps from the Hell levels too!
