Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
(Additional Credits: Fulsam)
Metadoom's Gauss Cannon is nice, very fitting to Doom, however it's also oversized (even bigger than the BFG9000) lacks a few important details (such as the guiding ring?) and still looks like it's a prototype -- not to forget that the muzzle flash was whack (big IMO) and the pickup sprite is raw to say the least.
Basically this remedies those issues:
- it slims the weapon down (now the same height, but slightly less wider than the base game BFG9000)
- Addition of the guiding ring(?) and a barrel (scaled down plasma gun emitter)
- Various parts from the BFG9K have been used to fill in shadow space and flatten out the weapon, pipes added on coil devices as an "electrical accelerator" (jk, actually added to make the GC look more familiar but different from the BFG9K as well as more consistent with the rear capacitor things)
- Forward blue lights now function as a "Gauss Activation Light" (IRL Gauss Guns are supposed to be turned on and off during firing, not before or after iirc)
- Primary muzzle flash is now consistent with the vanilla Plasma Gun, added secondary muzzle flash to first two firing states.
- Pickup sprite is more consistent with vanilla weapons; the chainsaw handling has been replaced for more UAC consistent "big fackin gun" layout.

The Gauss Cannon sprites were by Fulsam. Please check the CREDITS.TXT lump for proper credits, and to give them where it's due.

Trying to port one of Strasse's commandos from Wolfenstein: The New Order to classic DooM? He certainly looks imposing and sinister, I'll give you that.Kominate wrote:I was gonna start working on this guy today since University kept me a little bit busy. How does he looks?

Oh cool! I always wanted to see demon monsters on Doom based on chess pieces!CherubCorps wrote:Black Death horse, 8 frames. Something non-anime angel for a change.
Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
you could also use that effect which positions the halos above monster sprites to give different heads to generic bodies, like "Helmethead" in zelda 2. Or Horsehead, I suppose.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
First monster/player sprite of the year, inspired by the Steel Legion of Armageddon in Warhammer40k due to it's overall color scheme and appearance (being a WW2 GI) and yeah ADS as well can't have that

This makes me think of those giant murderdogs in Drakkhen, popping their heads out of the ground and then blasting you with eye lasers. And no, that doesn't make sense in context.CherubCorps wrote:

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Been messing around with using weapon renders as sprites, and i'm starting to get a groove going. Minimal touching up was done for all of these, sans the SPAS-12 as that was my first one (and i might honestly re-do it )
