The Space Pirate is a character-driven gameplay modification for GZDoom that takes Doom to new heights! Featuring fast-paced combat, a unique arsenal, powerful enemies, and over-the-top intense action! You play as Melody Crosswell, the eager titular space pirate! Fight aliens, monsters, and angry security forces as you punch your way to the top!


Originally revealed during our Blue Vertigo & Friends Community Showcase event!

The First Hunt is a demo centered on our new gameplay mode, BOUNTY HUNTERS! Take Mel into the Battle Zone with two unique loadouts and fight to get the biggest payout! AVAILABLE NOW!

BASIC MANEUVERS and MECHANICS
  • MAG GRAPPLE: Press and hold the Trait key (must be bound in the controls menu) and press Primary Fire to perform the MAG GRAPPLE, which brings enemies closer to you!
  • MAG SPEAR: A powerful divekick that deals massive damage! Press and hold the Trait key and press Alternate Fire while in the air!
  • STASIS UPPERCUT: Press and hold fire while Mel's melee is selected to charge the STASIS UPPERCUT! This maneuver is extremely powerful and puts enemies into an airborne stasis field they can be either shot or melee'd from!
  • POWER BANK: POWER BANK allows you to store an instant charge for the Stasis Uppercut which mitigates the charging time by pressing the Taunt key (must be bound in the controls menu). A lightning bolt ⚡ icon will appear next to the weapon icon on the HUD if a charge has been successfully stored! NOTE: You can immediately cancel the Taunt animation and perform a near-instant Stasis Uppercut (POWER BANK CANCEL).
  • WALL JUMP: After coming into contact with a wall after a jump, you can bounce off of it by hitting the jump key again to perform a WALL JUMP. There is a sound cue for when you're able to wall jump, so be on the lookout!
  • SLIP DASH: The SLIP DASH is an excellent movement utility that can be performed by hitting the crouch key when you come into contact with the ground after a jump. It'll propel you forward at a high speed for a short amount of time.
Use a combination of these maneuvers to dominate the battlefield!

Got a bit too excited when uploading! Uploaded a hotfix that correctly spawns Doom enemies instead of our WIP guys! Download v0.1a in the post above!
  • Clear your .ini file before playing! Currently fatal errors unless you do! You can alternatively turn auto-switch weapon back on which seems to be causing the issue. We'll check this out ASAP!

What causes this? Are player powers / weapons tied to monster behaviour like in Guncaster? (thus requiring a custom patch?)

Actually not this time around, behaviors are universal! We just need to make some tweaks to get spawning in Bounty Hunters working right (loading up any of the "compatible" monster packs listed in the Other Mod Options menu has most of them just not spawn anything atm).

I played it, it seems so alien hearing that apparently that can somehow happen, also a bug i do want to report is that the map is blocked by Mel's hands.

This is beautiful. Lots of lovely artwork wrapped up in an interesting gameplay package. I have to give special mention to the UI and menu system - just lovely, and such high quality.

I did have a technical problem. After killing all the bad guys, I was into the extra kills section and after I downed a couple, the game locked up entirely and I had to ise the task manager to kill it.

EDIT #1: I followed the installation instructions, but I am getting a 'sound init failed' error message upon launch and I get no sound whatsoever! :?

EDIT #2: The 'Quick Melee' button does not appear to work for me.

Jesus. All these amazing production values for a Doom mod? :shock:

Not that I am complaining, of course, but I have to wonder why you did not choose to make a standalone commercial game instead.

That's not a TSP-specific error but rather a sound device error. Do you get the same error just booting up GZDoom without TSP??

This functionality isn't actually in quite yet, most likely next update!

EDIT: So I have just found out that GZDoom 7.1 is out. I downloaded it and it fixed my sound issue.

So far, no, it has only happened once. I'll report back if it happens again.
