I agree with that, but it's strange because the difference is actually quite marked.

In the following screenshot, the crate on the left is made with normal Doom architecture. It is 64x64x64 Doom units. The crate on the right is a model. It is also 64x64x64 units but the units are square (i.e. in my modelling program, it is 64 units tall but GZDoom doesn't apply 1:1.2 scaling to a model unless you explicitly tell it too in MODELDEF.)

And here is exactly the same scene but with pixelratio = 1.0 set in MAPINFO.

The funny thing is, to experienced Doomer's eyes, the model crate in image 1 and both crates in the 2nd image look too short and squat.

In the context of that room and that hand-holding a gun sprite the boxes look a bit short, indeed. If everything except the boxes had exact square aspect ratios, then the boxes would probably look too tall, at least to me. I can easily mentally adapt to slightly unusual proportions. It is similar to looking through a window screen and not focusing on the screen, and possibly not seeing it at all, though perhaps not the same exact visual process. There is a window to my left so that is the example I thought of!
but admittedly my first home video game system was my cousins' old atari 2600, a device through which ostensibly circular objects were regularly represented with fat rectangles.

Got distracted and did this today
Fear Books
Fear Books
Edited version of HorrorMovieRei's resized Blood cultist. Not sure if I'm happy with it.

Has no weapon at moment as I planned on using it as a base to build weapons on.
Feel free to take it and use it but probably arm him first, unless he has a air-tommygun :)

An odd statue discovered in the strangest of places. It's certainly been here awhile judging by the moss and lichen growing on it. Perfectly sculpted without a single flaw or crack, it almost appears lifelike.

here are some floaty imps;

based on the floaty dead things from amuscaria's masterpiece that is hellforged.

I made them to replace the specimen monsters in the wall-tanks in z1m5 of kdizd (light):
kdizd_specimins.jpg
Although they look a little emaciated against regular imps, I feel this is perfect for the 'imp-in-the-tank' look I was going for (as in the one from D3 that made us all jump the first time... )

do feel free to use them...

ImageImage
credits to Epic Games for the models, i just rendered them and gave the enforcer doom hands :P
(use Scale 0.3 if you use these sprites btw!!!)

That's some... really stretchy perspective on the flak cannon sprites.

I suppose it'd make sense to make sprited weapons of this for something like Zandronum but is kinda silly now that GZDoom can load Unreal and Deus Ex meshes natively.

ahh, i should have noted that they're high FOV because they're made to be used with sprite offsets (and, in the case of something im working on, with weapon sway too)
wouldn't want some unwanted empty space now :P

Wow, I didn't even notice that! The slightly tall crates are just so burned into my brain. Still, I wanna try it. Can you post the code you need to put in the MAPINFO file? I really wanna see what it's like.

But where's the cuteness!? Where's all the love!? Angels are suppose to be pretty... not a bunch of feathers and rings! That thing's too ugly to be a real angel.

In all seriousness, it's pretty rad. Do you plan on making more types?

The Seraphim and Cherub only as it is the only one I'm thinking of that's in the Biblical Text
