Re: Slax
Have some memory here. This is the important thing of being a community - You will know, somewhere, that someone is missing when they actually are missing from life all around.
Incredibly sad news, for the direct and indirect family and ZDoom members who enjoyed the works of Slax.

Re: Slax
He was the kind of person everybody liked. Always helping out because he liked to. My condolances to his close friends and family.

Re: Slax
Christ. I get out of the hospital today and return to this. ):
I didn't know Slax personally. However, I knew of their art and sense of humor from the times I spent on the Twitch streams of Combine_Kegan and TerminusEst13. They made me laugh and smile during times when I was at my absolute worse. Their art was and still is an absolute joy to see, whether it was in imgur links in the Twitch chat or in the various threads on the ZDoom forums.
They'll be missed and I'll be keeping them and their family and friends in my thoughts and prayers.

Re: Slax
Oh man no, another deceased community member? What's happening with this awful, crapful year?
Sorry, I can't remember now if we have ever coincided in any forum thread, but anyway I would like to give my condolences to all his relatives and close friends...
Rest in peace Slax, and may God welcome you in his lap...

Re: Slax
Slax was a super cool dude with a hilarious sense of humor and probably the quickest wit out of anyone I've talked to online. Absolutely devasted.
Sending my energy out to his friends and family, love you dude.

Re: Slax
FUCK. FUCKING FUCKING FUCK.
I don't even know what to say - Slax was talented as all hell, and I can't even begin to tell you how much he shaped my forays into spritework and graphic art, as well as his amazing sketches (honestly the only reason I posted my own sketches here at all). Truly, he was - and still is - a legend, both in the Doom community at large and in the slightly smaller community of artists that this forum has fostered and adopted over the years, in no small part due to his ingenuity, creativity, and artistic talent.
Slax, we will miss you. Hell, I will miss you - all I can hope for is that your loved ones find comfort and relief in knowing that you are beloved both here on the ZDoom forums and in the real world, and that future creators here find inspiration for the wealth of artwork and creative concepts that you have so generously bestowed upon us in your time here.
I don't suppose we can sticky his sketch thread, for posterity? Or would that be too grim? It appears to be stickied - I don't know if it was in response to Slax's passing or just because he was that good at what he did, but at least people will be able to see his talents far into the foreseeable future. Saying "was" instead of "is"...it's a sour feeling, to be sure.
