Free Blender Alternatives?

Post by Artman2004 »

I like Blender, but I feel it can be rather cumbersome to use sometimes. Do any of you happen to know of any good, free alternatives?

Rather than Misfit, Maverick is a continuation of Misfit with some bugs fixed and still in (admittedly occasional) development.

Wings3D was the other competing program from back in the day, but don't know if that's still updated (or even have appropriate content pipelines).

Other Blender alternatives are older major versions of Blender :D The UIs are significantly different in 2.49 and 2.6x, maybe they'll strike a bit better. Of course, be prepared for the loud "LOL un supported out dated software !!! upgrade blender 2.9 best easiest belnder !!! its free whats excuse ?????" voices.

If it's just the UI that's causing the problems, then perhaps Bforartists might be of interest. I haven't had a chance to try it yet (despite asking about it on here some time ago) but it is meant to be Blender but with a redesigned to be friendlier interface.

BForArtists dosen't do much, it's like that old GIMPshop fork in that regard, plus they've already jumped to base on 2.9 which undoes the initial 2.7-ui-good push...
