I loved it!!! I was so disappointed when it was over!! I want more!!! Did you take some inspiration from Foreverhood at all? I felt like I kind of noticed some inspirations from it. Maybe not.

Thank you, no, Foreverhood is a cool mod but it's not my main inspiration. Off the top of my head, things that inspired me the most were Bioshock, Dark Souls, Castlevania, Blood and my love for Vampires and gothic atmosphere in general.

Hi There ..
I've uploaded a short video of your awesome mod ..
Works perfectly on a newer smartphone (Snapdragon 855)

https://youtu.be/XPLj0MAbMvo

Any idea when you'll continue this awesome piece of art ?
It's absolutely fascinating to play through ...

Any chance we can get a texture pack as add-ons for use with other mods ? The paralax effects are UNBELIEVABLY AWESOME

It's not compatible with ANY addons unless ones specifically made for this, in fact, you're running it with double jump/slide/bolognese mod addons that SHOULDN'T be used with my mod, will break stuff and also show an incorrect portrayal of my work. Looking at your channel, you're butchering other mods like Treasure Tech like this instead of experiencing them the way they should be played. It's not a matter of customization and freedom, it's a matter of breaking stuff and turning it into a unplayable mashup of random addons that BARELY work together.

I just came to say that as a long-time creator (and also in the works of some in-progress standalone TCs), I share Batandy's feelings on this.

This whole norm/culture of mashing together mods, and the nature of being easily to mix together mods with this engine in general has lately got me really deeply thinking and contemplating using this medium for my larger projects...

(Not to mention performance tanks the more and more addons one would ridiculously stack on top of each other, LOL)

Just my two cents.

I played the TCD beta when it was out "as intended", it's an amazing and solid work that stands on its own.

i agree, mods are bad and games should not be moddable

I'll say that the freedom to mod games should also be given to the mods themselves. It's fine to mix and match mods or maps in my opinion, so long as the mixer understands that it is not the way the mods are meant to be played and that any complaints regarding anything from balance, bugs, glitches, to things like artstyle or aesthetic inconsistencies should be first pointed to their choice of mixes instead of the respective mod authors' fault.

So long as everyone here is respectful and not constantly demand for compatibility patches for every single combo they use (or better yet, do the patches themselves), then should we not atleast let them have their fun? Our mods are still technically in the equation for why they're having great fun, after all. Seems a bit much to feel detrimental or worse from seeing people having fun playing your mod in a way you don't expect.

This kind of completely misses the point of the comments you are replying to. Sarcastic jabs tend to fail completely when they miss the context you are trying to jab at.

The argument has nothing to do with whether games or mods should be moddable. The issue is that some mods are incompatible with one another - sometimes even if not on a technical level, definitely on a balance level.

If Ferret wants to play with a bunch of mods mooshed together that's his prerogative, but at the same time it's also his own damn problem if something goes wrong, and the author of this particular mod is just informing him that such a setup is definitely not one he should be expected to balance and account for.

What did we learn: If author of the mod did not mention about the compatibility in the first place, especially the brutal doom stuff, it's not likely gonna work 101.1% foolproof and shouldn't be tackled with nor suggest some kind of patch to make it work.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong. I know that Ferret does not have malicious intentions and did not point out the bad result of messing around with mods and addons. However it's frankly unpleasant to look at and misunderstandable.

EDIT2:
ZikShadow wrote:I wouldn't call it misunderstandable, the lad did put in the description all the extra mods loaded. Links to the extra mods and addons? Sure. But at least ferret did not put their thoughts on this because i think i can see where this is actually going and the viewers would judge the mod before playing it originally, as it intended, though.

Hey ...hold on there ..

First : how I play these mods I my thing I believe ..also I put a list of add-ons in the description Everytime ..AND my viewers mostly know I use these

Second : the add-ons I use does break NOTHING ..(exept the level progression in some cases where areas wouldn't be reachable without jumping or double jump)

Third : I show people what's possible with mods and addons ..this engine allows extrem customization of your playstyle and experience ..
If you don't like it you don't need to do it

Forth : I don't butcher anything ...the mods are complete and only get some add-ons ..and saying it's not compatible is a lie ..like you see it's absolutely compatible with my favorite add-ons .

Also ...IF ALL the mods only should be played in their released state (vanilla) without add-ons ..FOR WHAT THE HxxL ARE ADDONS THEN AVAILABLE??
