Though the mod is still being worked on, i think all 2 BFG replacements are already in the mod. I just one of them used it even

It's fully charged when the charge bar is glowing.

Oh I was referring to using the tertiary fire with regular ammunition but I guess that means you can kill it 5 times over with only half a Q press
Love the edits for the classic maps, Boss Bars are something I never knew I needed in Doom 2 until now

I know that. But quite frankly the gauge glowing when fully charged alone does not make me often realize that i now can discharge it, hence the small HUD. But no worries, maybe i could get use to it.Marisa Kirisame wrote:It's fully charged when the charge bar is glowing.

Heh, a lil' optimization of mine just got merged into GZDoom that makes this mod load 20 times faster.
Be on the lookout for a devbuild with the nice number (g4.5pre-69-g6e7920993).

20 times faster? Now that sounds efficient with bright pink color.
Also something just popped up out of my head: If this mod is at near completion or already completed, are you going to add some a custom startup screen?

I'm on Linux so I can't even see startup screens in the first place.

Speaking of loading faster and optimisations, I notice that if I switch on chasecam, there is a really quite noticeable pause/hiccup while the player model or skn loads. is there anything that can be done about that?

Well that's quite weird. Maybe because it depends on the PC spec? I actually had no short pause nor hiccups after i pressed chasecam, and enabling the death camera. But in exchange, GZDoom takes quite a while to load the mod and i have no idea why.Enjay wrote:Speaking of loading faster and optimisations, I notice that if I switch on chasecam, there is a really quite noticeable pause/hiccup while the player model or skn loads. is there anything that can be done about that?
I didn't even know that, actually... But i'm positively sure the process of making your own startup screen is quite easy.Marisa Kirisame wrote:I'm on Linux so I can't even see startup screens in the first place.
Anyhoo, i think the name of the option: Enable Custom Blood is misreading because it technically activates multiple things than just blood. Like gibs, blood drips, sound effect for gibs and blood drips... Also sadly, the issue of dropping framerate is still there.

Weird indeed. It's always happened with me and this mod. My computer should certainly be good enough to cope speed-wise.Captain J wrote:Well that's quite weird. [edit]I just tried with a fresh download - somewhere between 3 and 4 seconds of a pause when pressing chasecam for the first time. [/edit]

That's the kind of thing that optimization fixes. It used to take about 5 seconds for the player model to load for me, the first time, now it's ¼ of a second.
There's also the fact that you don't have texture precaching enabled. Otherwise, the player and weapons (which are the main bulk size-wise in terms of models) would be preloaded at launch instead.

OK, cool. I look forward to trying it when there is a build up on DRD.
What did you do to optimise things?

Turned a very long and very slow nested loop into a shorter two-pass set of loops.
