Well, I wasn't trying to put him down. I was just pointing it out (although the effort in general is kinda strange o_O)

Need to find an un-corrupted version of STRAIN

Post by Joeyxp2 »

Okay, let's stay on topic here. I still can't find a version of STRAIN that's not corrupted. I have also tried the one I had with Doom Legacy but it didn't work either. I downloaded STRAIN from the official site and my WinRar still has a problem with it. So, do you have any idea where I can find a working version?

It may just be winrar that has a problem with the file. Have you tried using a different program, such as winace?

Hell, you could even try winzip, but I've never used winace, so give it a shot.

WinAce: CRC Error, Must be Corrupted Archive

Post by Joeyxp2 »

I just installed WinAce and it shows me a bad CRC error. Didn't you tell me STRAIN works on your computer, Bashe? Can you tell me where a correct version can be found? I think it has to be the corrupted archives causing the problem.

Here is what I did: Open the file: strain10.zip and extract it into a folder
There seems to be some files that can be unpacked because they are labeled at the end with: .001, .002, .003, and .004 and there is also a unpack.bat
When I run it opens up for one second and then closes every time.
So I decide to do it the manual way and use WinRar to open strain10 and I get the Bad CRC error and Unexpected end of archive everytime even though I can unzip. Winzip doesn't support LZH files as when I tried to open
strain.001 it says:
When working with LZH files the "Extract" operation requires the LHA external program. This program is not installed or improperly installed.
I am currently using Winzip 9.0 Registered
I also can not open strain.002- .004 because the format is not compatible.

If you plan to unpack the files, you must extract them into the doom2 directory, which means you need the doom2.exe (I think). Then you can run the unpack.bat and it should give you the wad and the deh.
