GZDoom randomly freezing?

GZDoom randomly freezing?
My GZDoom has started freezing for a couple of seconds randomly every so often, it'll be during normal gameplay or it might happen when I pick up a weapon or stand on a surface that damages you. I'm using 4.1.2. I've never had this issue beforehand and now I can't seem to figure out a way to stop it.

Does it freeze with the default settings? Or with software renderer?

I was using Hardware Accelerated but I guess I can try the other options

okay nevermind the other renderers look horrible and run pretty bad too, default settings it was freezing too
