I'm also waiting for 3.7 to land, that's why my map uses some features from it (they're disabled for now).

I've been watching one of those videos, one by a couple of guys (they suck and even load savegames from the menu, it's strange but it seems one of them is named Coraline) and now i know he's using the E5Mx format ar least for now. BTW that twitch player it's awful and extremely slow even at low resolutions, and after going back and forward a bit the video gets frozen.

Are these Centaurs, at the start of Fortress.wad, set to dormant on purpose?

It's a bit disconcerting.

That was an oversight on my part. I've fixed it ;).

Beta is released. Download here

Some notes:
  • The music is not yet final. That is still being worked on, right now.
  • A little bit of minor polish with the UI (Titlescreen and menu graphics) are planned.
  • A HUGE thanks goes to Marisa Kirisame and whirledtsar for what they've done on this project. They have done way more than me, finishing and polishing off my rough edges, and making this beta release possible. Without them - this project likely would have died off and been forgotten about. So - thank you!
So why did it take so long to even get the first beta out? Well - it's a seasonal project that's out of season, would probably be the biggest reason. But I think another reason is my impulsivity, where I jump from one thing to another too quickly and forget to go back to what I was doing before. It happens a lot, with me. That's not an excuse - that's a failing on my part, and it's something I should work on should I ever want to lead projects such as this in the future.

The mappers have done a wonderful job with this - and I am going to post some screenshots here, soon, to showcase their work. A big thanks goes to the entire team for this!

I do not know when the full release will be, and I also expect that I will do another beta as a full release first, before making an actual full release.

Good to see that this project is moving along, I can't wait for the final release!

---

The snow particles on Marisa's map could really use some optimizing. I'm seeing >1350 snow actors at a time. Personally, I'd add a distance check to the snow spawners. (~500 fog actors too)

I've added some culling to them and reduced the spawn intervals (they're reduced dynamically based on total particle count). Seems like now at most I see ~100 of each particle at a time.

Gonna test first on my laptop if the optimization had some noticeable impact for lower end systems.

I bw0ke it.

What happened there is that I wanted to see what happened if I started the last conversation after the maulotaur/hellsmith battle (which needs either a lot more ammo or less damage resistance for the hellsmith portion) inside that house. When it's over, he goes inside (more like disappears, heh), and shuts the door. Since I'm inside at the time, I get stuck.

By the way, what exactly do I put inside the [imgur] tags?

imgur.com/a/ links won't work, and you cannot include the .jpg or .png extension. The post shows you very plainly how to get the proper link.
