Psychonauts is free on the Humble Bundle Store for just short of 2 days

Would a dedicated thread make sense for free games? It's always nice to catch one of these.

I'd love one. I keep posting about them when I discover something, and having a list of free stuff just showing up to collect that everyone helps keep an eye out for would be a lot of fun.

I think that would be awesome. Prerequisite is posting the expiration date of the deal if any, post removed if info left out. Hopefully head off too many "why isn't this free wahh" complaints for older posts.

Ah, what the hell. I'll make the thread.

Just got internet back this evening. Irma caused widespread flooding throughout Jacksonville, mostly in places with existing bodies of water (duh). For a day or two after Irma peaked on Monday, the St. Johns river got about 300 meters wider on average, as it overflowed its banks and spread out over parts of the downtown metropolis. Even today, 3 days after the event, there are still homes in some of the outlying areas still significantly underwater. Not anywhere near the magnitude Houston's had to deal with, but still worse than practically anything we've got since Dora in 1964.

Despite that, Jacksonville remains a lucky city when it comes to hurricanes. Dozens of hurricanes have skirted the east coast of Florida in my lifetime, though none of which ever passed over the city directly. When Matthew struck last year, it actually turned away from Jacksonville as it passed by, keeping the worst of its winds offshore. Every hurricane which has rounded Florida to hit the state in its underbelly, the Gulf coast, has managed to miss Jacksonville with its eyewall. Of course, over the next couple decades our luck may run out as the average intensity of hurricanes increase over time due to climate change.

Just as with Matthew last year, we lost internet almost immediately, but kept our power throughout the whole shebang. It wasn't just my street this time, though. It does seem like, at least in my area, Irma's winds were much less effective at bringing trees down across powerlines than Matthew's were. Of course that could just mean that Matthew already pushed down all the trees which were going to come down in high winds, and there weren't that many left for Irma to knock over.

Thankfully, my family members in Bradenton weathered the storm successfully, and everybody's okay.

Was anybody else here close enough to Irma to feel it knocking? How'd you fare?

You and I discussed this a bit in Discord - so you're probably wondering what happened to me.

Irma came and visited alright, but I was spared the worst of the winds. However, it did rain - and I mean a *lot*. And it was pretty easy to tell it was hurricane rains just by the smell of it.

However - nothing (that I know of) near me actually got flooded, and Irma pretty much stopped in its tracks in southern Georgia. So while I did get some effects of Irma, I did escape the worst that the storm had to offer - had it continued on its course, the eye would've pathed near me about somewhere between 10 to 30 or so miles away as a tropical storm, but it fizzled out before that happened.

So yeah - I am okay, and life pretty much has continued as usual, for me. No one that I personally know has died or gotten seriously injured from the hurricane yet, that I've heard of, so that is a bit of a relief, for me.

It behooves all of you to listen to Essel's latest EP, PC Love Letter.

It is sublime.

Between this and General Mibi, I've got some good jams going.

The sum of my cleanup efforts consisted of picking up a few scattered roof shingles and small tree limbs out of my yard, and shoveling leaves and sediment out of my section of the gutter running along the street. And I've already done all that. I'm good.

If you find yourself compelled to do some volunteer work on my end of the state, I'm sure Black Creek could use a hand.
