Disruptor Texture Replacer (v1)

Post by Dr_Cosmobyte »

As many of you are tired to know, i love Disruptor. It was my first FPS game, and probably one of my favorites to this day. I've met it years before Doom, and years before i even knew what "First person shooter" meant.

So, when Dynamo ripped the textures of all stages (some doomers here already done some of the stages, albeit some of the textures were hard to separate altogether) i was really hyped if someone would come with a texture replacement pack out of it. But, facing the reality that Disruptor is a B-side game, one that almost got released to the cursed Panasonic 3DO (Thanks for reconsidering, Insomniac Games!) and very few guys might really LIKE the game, i thought better to open up SLADE and do it myself.

Credits to Dynamo for ripping the textures and Doomenator for the pk3 basis so i could study the proper way to replace them.

Link to Dynamo's thread: viewtopic.php?f=37&t=67484&p=1137891&hilit=disruptor#p1137891

Another thing i think i should point: This replacer has a few repeated textures. Laziness? Ignorance? Actually no. Disruptor has a lot of varied and colorful levels. Replacing every wall, ceiling and floor with a different counterpart would result on a mish mash of things that don't connect. So i tried to be subtle on my changes and i have not replaced any wall textures (unless they're used for door textures too, such as the first door in Level03). The objective was to keep the maps vanilla with a bit more to add some fresh air. There are not too many wooden textures too, so they are basically the same, edited from the same source.

So, a quick disclaimer: MANY textures were slightly or heavily modified to be paired with some Doom counterparts. If you can think of better choices inside the original textures, have done better edits or just think something looks ugly, post it here! This pack is ready to go, but i can always come up with better ideas.
Spoiler: A few more curiosities about Disruptor that influentiated on this pack
With that said, here are a few screenies and a link. Have fun!
