One night a couple months ago, I had a dream I was playing some of the Doom games of the recent two decades and suddenly, minecraft enemies started teleporting in. Which gave me inspiration and lead to the birth of Triple M! It also gave me an excuse to take a break from working on D(E)4D & Complex Chaos to do something much smaller but equally as fun to have and to keep players on their toes with enemies left and right that works with any other mod.
The aim of this mod is simple: it adds Minecraft mobs to your game, and it's built for universal gameplay, so go nuts with your favorite mods!
Yes, that means even mods like Brutal Doom should work fine with it, but bear in mind extraneous effects like executions and/or D4D/D4T's glory killing are not supported and won't work.
The only way you can win against these monsters...
...is to shoot them until they DIE.
As it was meant to be.
Spoiler: Details
(WIP) Enhanced systems will be available, including weak points and special effects occurring when you hit said weak points, allowing for critical hits that deal MASSIVE damage!
Zombies: Crit their head! They still have mushy brains that can be destroyed. May turn into skeletons that are brittle, but immune to critting.
Skeletons: Crit their torsos! Their brains are far too gone by now so head shots do nothing special. May enrage though.
Creepers: Crit their tiny feet! Make sure to back up though... It may start a reaction that cannot be stopped.
Spiders: Thorax! May coat you in string and run away or violently ravage you though...
Enderman: Piss them off by looking at them! The longer you look at them, the greater the opportunity to crit them randomly on any part. But they grow incredibly stronger...
And much more!
You've also Peaceful mode should you ever need to disable them, or just want to vent your frustration on that one skeleton sniper jackass whose filled your sorry rear with more arrows than you can count on both hands. You choose if they vanish, stay or keep spawning while pacified! They can still infight but they won't ever fight you while active.
Difficulty will add more abilities, armor, and/or weapons to enemies. As you can see, mob mentality is already active on zombies. Some of the skeletons shot some of them, and almost all of them turned to tear him a new femur. Just about every ability is planned to be part of the enemy's arsenal... and potentially more!
When the mod is finalized, there will be endless amounts of fun to be had with many ways to challenge you, including a myriad of customization options at your disposal so you can empower them for the beefy mods you love to play with, so they can fit any gameplay style you like.
Spoiler: FAQ
Maps? Items? Inventory?
Eventually, maybe, no. This is NOT a total conversion, but some convenience rewards may be added, such as the ender pearl as a reward for killing enemies.
What are the rules for item drops?
All items are player only drops. However, unlike Minecraft, you only need to have damaged them at least once before they die in order to get them to drop. This prevents needless item spam when they die by standing in damaging sectors.
...Did you say damaging... sectors!?
Yes! Watch the badly recorded teaser video and see! I even show the options and where it can be toggled.
So there's environment kills?
Fall damage, sector damage, and drowning - if they're vulnerable to each. Bear in mind they follow the standard Minecraft rules, so Zombie Pigmen are immune to sector damage/fire, undead are immune to poison/regeneration, and skeletons are immune to drowning, etc. Likewise, Enderman take damage on water textures, etc.
Kinda curious why Demoman as voice of choice for some of the mobs. I do understand the fact that his stickybomb launcher is just so annoying to fight against but his personality is just perfect. I thought about playing this with Project MSX but I remembered that it has custom mobs too so it is out of the question... Maybe with LaTailorGirl or Guncaster* (*= With some added difficulty). What map is that? Just wondering because I have never seen that. Or is that part of the mod?
Placeholder sounds are temporary. They'll be with their normal voices in the next video. I just needed something that wasn't so silent because I don't have their footsteps implemented yet.
I'm not sure what you're asking. If you mean will there be support for custom texture packs... Depends. If monsters have varied skins within Minecraft itself, there will be support for those skins, but it all depends on the skin count itself.
Adding custom randomized skins is not something done so easily in GZDoom. The trouble is you'd have to know how to do some of the programming yourself. It's not like Minecraft.
Out of curiosity, would anyone be willing to do some spritework? When I started thinking about armor, I thought it'd be pretty fun to have creepers wearing some too.
Don't worry. When a creeper wears armor, especially body armor, it may make it tougher to kill, but it'll reduce how much damage it can put out when it goes boom.
They're placeholder sounds. Those won't be present in the next video. I was having trouble getting hold of my minecraft account again but I still had a resource pack on hand. Mojang have since contacted me back and we've finally resolved the issue so I could download the game and get the appropriate resources.
