Monster experiment

Post by LilWhiteMouse »

Just messing around, maybe someone will find this interesting.

The monster will sometimes try to dodge your attack. She also has two minions that will try and heal her with your health, and return to her armor when damaged. Not meant to be difficult or anything, just a technical test.

It is amazing. Image
I'll surely benefit some ideas from it, if I may that is.

Awesome! Reminds me of some of the bosses in Chrono Trigger (having to deal with two bits and the boss itself) really great job.

Impressive both in the way it looks and the way it works. I also like the hit stat system too. However, when testing with GZdoom, it bombed out and dropped me straight to my desktop after a couple of minutes fighting the witch. I'd hit her quite a lot, so maybe she was ready to die (although I later tried MDKing her without causing a crash) or maybe it was something else entirely.

Interesting, but IMO I don't think this style of play works well with Doom.

Very cool. The only thing that bothered me was that it seems there should be a distance check before dodging. As it is, I could stand still holding attack and she would just keep jumping further and further away to the other side of the room.

It's marvellous! I keep getting hit by the "Witchshadowa" (Something like a magnetic vortex, I guess) :P .

What I don't get is: Why does the Wraithwitch only have a 1 angle attack? Shouldn't it have multiple angels?
An example to make myself for "understandable": When the Wolfenstein SS gets attacked by another monster/human, it attacks them, but faces your direction.

Wow! LWM, this is a great monster! I liked how it avoided your attacks, that was pretty interesting.

Very nice and well done, but I wouldn't want to actually fight this in a Doom map - it just wouldn't fit.

I like this. Though you should probably have it dodge a different direction if you're dealing with projectile weapons.

Although I must admit, I do agree with Cutman. It's a great system, but not terribly too Doomish.

After playing your CHOSEN. I really feel like drawing your egyptian girl in anime. Looks good, as usual. I admire your patience with 3d programs. T_T *bow bow*

That's bad? IMO Too many things are Doomish. Demons, teh bases, demons, hellgates. Man can go a bit sick from this, and since (Z)Doom is so customizable I actually find non doomish things (Batman TC anyone?) to be much better than usual hellspawn crap. Then again, just my opinion.

No, it's increasingly mine too. I know it is a part of the basic nature of the game and all (and it is still fun), but yet another story about the bad scientists doing ill-advised experiments and letting the hellspawn loose again, C/W unoriginal "new" ways to show off the hellish nature of the demons and the distortion of reality they brng with them again... well it can get a bit tired.

IMO, LWM has lead the field in non-Doomy Zdoom based projects and she should be applauded for doing so. However, Hellspawn is a damn fine mod too, of course.

That's definently different. Looks like something like that could easily be modded into a hack'n'slash kinda game if it were to be done right.
