[GZDOOM] Deluge: Onset [WIP]

DELUGE is a Total Conversion project for Doom II, using the GZDoom source port. Players must use their agility, firepower and sorcery to survive against a hostile ecosystem of meat monsters. The current iteration is a 6-map demo entitled Deluge: Onset, slated for release in late 2021 or early 2022.

Players take the role of The Anomaly, a superhuman being from another world stranded on a dying far future Earth in the dystopian metropolis of Bacillus City. The planet has been ravaged by mankind, but is now being reborn anew in the wake of the Deluge - a supernatural event of meat and magic bringing forth new life that finds him fit for consumption.

While his memories are elusive, The Anomaly has several magic abilities at his disposal including time freezing, telekenisis and teleportation. These combined with weapons such as a Flaregun, Harpoon Rifle, Shrapnel Shotgun and the terrifying Inverse Energy Destructor make sure he's ready for any manner of threat coming his way, although brute force may not always be the best option for dealing with the diverse lineup of foes he'll have to face.

The denizens of the Deluge are capable of squad behaviour, flanking manuvoures, searching out cover and taking advantage of their envrionment for surprise attacks. Every enemy type has its own traits and when working in tandem can easily overpower an inattentive player.

i love the atmosphere this is showing! like, its all rather high contrast and painful to look at/hear. Its like, -bright- horror if that makes sense

Mapping progress. In other news the stealth system is being addressed and new prop sprites are in the works. We're still looking for a particle effects expert and HUD/UI designer.

It looks like a genuinely nasty place to be (and I mean that in a good way). I can almost smell the grease steel and blood in the industrial-looking areas and the hellish stuff really does look like the disorientating unpleasant stuff of nightmares.

I am in love with this aesthetic, immediately went looking for this thread when i saw the screencap on the discord. Disappointed that there's no download, but the video will keep me sated for now! Can't wait to see more!

I love seeing completely original stuff created in the GZDoom engine - and this looks very promising! I was going to offer to make some music for this, but it looks like you've already got that sorted out. :P

Mapping is mostly finished now and the current build is technically fully playable, meanwhile the stealth system is reaching its final stages. Next major jobs after current work involves the magic system and implementing three new NPC types.
