Temple of the Lizard Men Remake: GOLD EDITION RELEASED!

Hello, everyone! Would you believe Temple of the Lizard Men will be officially 10 years old by June 23rd of this year? Man, I feel old. The very first Temple of the Lizard Men was released back in 2009. Since I've been updating and fixing the older wads, TOTLM1 hasn't received as much TLC as the others have. Even though I created an update patch to fix some of the problems from the original, I felt it didn't do it much justice. It was time to revamp the first TOTLM and give it the love it deserves.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Temple of the Lizard Men Remake! This project celebrates 10 years of the series. For some time, some of the most die-hard fans of the series (you know who you are) had requested to play as a lizard man. Initially, I was thinking of doing something like this in TOTLM5 but I felt it wouldn't work. Then I thought, "You know, this would work in a remake of the first TOTLM." As the wad series evolved and improved over time, I can't help but think of all those who gave tremendous love and support to the projects. Not just the fans but to those who had helped shape the wads into what they are today.

First giving a shout-out to Mega Doomer who had inspired and motivated me to continue this series. He had taught me how to make levels fun, challenging, and balanced. Next are those who had helped with beta testing and contributing other cool and helpful things to the series. Those fine people are Tormentor667, RSL, grouchbag, Janus3003, Redead-ITA, Carrascado, Jimmy (for the fonts), and Blue Shadow (for helping to fix the boss HP bar in TOTLM4). (If I missed anybody, I credit you, too)

It was a good game, but it's not my favorite TOTLM game by any means. The main reason being is that it is too Doom-y for my liking, which I imagine was the intended idea from this remake. I'd give it 7/10 as a rating.

Looking forward to TOTLM5. Keep up the good work, sir.

Just finished a playthrough, and I've gotta say that I rather enjoyed this. The levels, while not visually mind-blowing, were well-designed overall, and I never found myself stuck wandering around aimlessly. The gameplay was pretty fun. My only major complaint is the enemy gauntlet before the minotaur boss - never been a fan of those - and the minotaur boss itself, which made the final boss feel almost like a joke by comparison.

@Blue Shadow & MFG38 - I happy to hear you guys enjoyed the wad. I do admit I did make it a little more Doom-y than what one would usually see in a TOTLM game. I had a feeling that there might have been an imbalance between the Helltaur and the Inferno Demon. It always seems like I can't seem to get the bosses in the right order of difficulty... Fear not, though. In TOTLM5, the final boss will be a massive challenge and will be harder than the Helltaur. I don't want to spoil too much but I assure you, it will be challenging

Good ol' Temple of the Lizard men series. Although i haven't played the whole series, but used to intrigue me to play deeply. I apologize, but i'm certainly having fun with the first game. and it's remade even! So far the game is quite great and very new. Storyline and the plot are detailed and impressive enough to sink your eyes into!

- Not sure, but the music of City of Nayach is kinda loud. I basically set the music volume to 0.50, but it's still loud to my ears.

- Also not sure why some of the menu sound effect is like something from SCI-FI. Mechanical stuff, you know? The one when you call the menu sounds like it.

- F1 Help screen is still from Doom. Perhaps add some storyline or infos of the game in there?

- It's weird that only Health and Armor items shows collected numbers on their pickup message. Why not make the ammo items also displays the numbers as well?

- Pretty weird that i can't stomp little Spiders and have to use my claws or other weapons. Sure, i might get bit. But it's better than doing something foolhardy. Like actually aiming at those small critters.

- Wizard Lizards does not drop Mana items and that's quite awkward. Since they're wizard, does some magic and probably has mana with them.


- I couldn't find these Switches inside the Dragon Staff room completely and had to roam around the map for 5 minutes. I'm a slow guy when it comes to finding the switches, but i found this quite cryptic thanks to spider webs. I guess they're just for the looks? A bit of hint of such switches would be appreciated.


- You can get this super potion by just jumping against it without lowering down the platform.


- At The Great Temple, you also can grab this Blue key by just jumping.

- Weirdly enough, Hellsmith was the most toughest boss to fight. Even harder than the Final Boss of this TC. Final Boss also does Projectile Spamming, but at least he's not so agile and really does some spamming than Hellsmith...

And that's about it. I might try the sequels later. I used to enjoy your old mods like alando guns, so yeah. I'm your big fan!

I may be late to the party, but it's great to see more Lizardmen stuff! I can't even say how many times I've replayed the first TotLM wad and they've all been pretty good so far. Can't wait to give this one a spin.
