Heretic: Masters of Chaos v. 1.2 WIP - See last page.
Formerly known as The Sword of Chaos.
Here it is!!!
3 new episodes - 31 levels of magic and mayhem.
Two secret levels per episode.
New weapons
New monsters
New Graphics
Note:
Episode three has 10 regular levels plus one secret level, unlike previous two eps.
There are some platforming elements in some levels. So you need to enable jumping and crouching.
Version changes:
1.0
First release.
1.1
- fixed texture alignment errors
- removed a trap with a bunch of butchers in e3m4
- removed a trap door (see knight archers trap in e3m4)
- e1m5 is about 1/4 bigger and more detailed than before
- added more detail in e1m6 + more enemies + a hint to find a blue key
- fixed a door in e2m9
- added more ammo + dragon claw in e2m9
- removed a bunch of nitrogolems in the big room in e3m6 / added a bunch of death knighs
- added more monsters in e3m10 final
- some minor detail changes in most maps
- changed some new sprites to solid objects
- added a crossbow at the very beginning in e1m9
- added firemace and dragon claw in e2m8 + more ammo
I'll be very happy if someone could upload it to gamers.org ftp. I can't get my ftp client to connect to gamers.org ftp.

Be sure to check the doublequote in the MAPINFO on line 323. I think there is a typo interfering with the doublequote on line 325.

I dont really like Heretic, yet, this looks very nice to me.
I might have to pull off a weapon mod to make the heretic weapons "feel better" (in my personal appreciation, of course), and then I'll give this thing a full run through. Looks promising.

The dynamic light defs are missing for the skull staff. Here's the code I added to it: (basically the hellstaff lights but purple)

Ahh sweet, I remember the first episode of this project and I had alot of fun playing it.
Can't wait to see the rest of the other episodes. Will be trying that out over this weekend

Been playing this last two days. Still on episode 1 though, just started the snow level.
It's been excellent so far, I have been playing on hard and ammo can be very scarce at times. Sometimes I just have to run past enemies or use the gauntlets on the smaller guys whenever possible. Also in the forest level, you really need to auto-align the textures on the tree trunks becuase they are thugly.
Otherwise very good stuff, it's a Heretic megawad with ZDoom features! Surprised it hasn't gathered more attention.

Ok. From what I see. For v1.1 I need to allign some textures, put more ammo, health on higher skill levels (they'll appear only on higher skill levels), SkullStaff extra SFX (Thanks The Ultimate DOOMER).
What else?
Btw. I'd love to make three world maps for my levels but I'm not a good artist.
Is there someone who'd like to make world maps for all three episodes?

There's a lot of vertical alignment issues, I'd check through every map tbh. Some maps also miss weapons (E2M8/9 especially, they're both pretty much impossible from scratch) and ammo (E1M6/E3M3 especially), I think there was at least 1 case where a door wouldn't open (E2M9 green key room iirc) and E3M4 (which I'm on atm) needs toning down A LOT. (some of those traps are wholly unreasonable, and will bring the anti-custom-monster brigade crashing in...which would be a shame as you were doing fine in that department until that map)

Remember that there's a zdoom bug with Firemace weapon. I dunno why but sometimes it just won't appear. Eg. E1M6, E2M2.
Yes I know that there are some textures alligment issues. But I didn't mind most of the cause almost every wad has these problems, including original heretic.wad. Then again I'll certainly fix these issues in forest levels e1m5, e3m2, e3m4. I'm surprised that there are some door issues. I've played every single level and never had this problem.
