Re: UZDoom 4.14.3 Pre-release
I did read "it" over and over again and I still don't quite get it. Don't be so rude.

Re: UZDoom 4.14.3 Pre-release
Slow down, you triple posted.
People are obviously not having the same problem as you or there'd be more eyes on it.
Also going "it doesn't work" over and over isn't going to make the problem go away. Give them something to work with.

Re: What’s Happening With UZDoom?
I personally dont care if the code is from ChatGPT or a human. When it works good, it works good. I think this topic about ChatGPT gets more drama than it should. 1.) The code he (Graf) used from ChatGPT didn't even work and may have been incompatible with the GPLv3 anyhow. 2.) ChatGPT was only the ...

Agreed, I think this has kind of derailed considerably.

Re: Texture filtering default discussion
Personally, the problem is a chicken/egg type thing. Where does the buck stop for 'intended experience'. For me, the main part is if you don't know the console exists and the exact value to change, that shortcut is useless. Not everyone even knows the console exists 90% of the time. Plus the menus ...

Re: Texture filtering default discussion
Honestly, and I say this as respectfully to all involved as I can, I think people were fed up with GZDoom to such a degree that this was a sign things were going in a different direction. A very clear and concise statement imo.
I don't think it's any deeper than that, but I could be wrong.

Re: Texture filtering default discussion
Addendum: I do admit some people just meme on texture filtering and the like for the "lulz" (I admit also I was one of those people initially with the GZDoom/UZDoom split... a bit of venting frustration at the time on my part as two of my games depend on upstream fixes). While I am sure a lot of ...

Re: Texture filtering default discussion
For me, I think Baaul and MartinHowe said it best. Some insight as a dev myself though, as I've been thinking about it a lot the past two weeks since all this happened (and before hand, incidentally). I hope it's not too off topic. I find settings are difficult to gauge a good default without ...

Re: Whats happening ?
Kappes, I'll be direct: Forking the engine is something they (and anyone else) can do legally and ethically as long as they follow the GPLv3, which has been done. I have forked GZDoom because I didn't see eye to eye with Graf on many of his design decisions, and I will continue to fork upstream with ...

Sometimes change happens when you least expect it.
The UZDoom devs have my full support and I wish you all the best, and look forward to working with you.

Re: Whats happening ?
I think you've made your point quite clear. But the discussion is happening now. I am neither a mod here nor a core contributor/dev on UZDoom nor GZDoom, but I'd advise everyone across the board to try to do better here on out. We can't change the past week, but we can learn from it. This week has ...

Re: Whats happening ?
I don't really get why y'all are being so hard on everyone for being exhausted trying to deal with this mess. It's not easy dealing with any of this. As someone who's current projects rely on this family of source ports, I'm watching optimistically and cautiously, and even I feel a smidge of stress ...

Re: Whats happening ?
I'm just an observer so take what I say with a grain of salt. TL;DR: After several disagreements over the years coming to a head after an event last week (namely Graf putting AI-generated code into the engine and then berating those against it, several devs left GZDoom's dev team and a new fork was ...
