Re: The Still New What Did You Last Do Thread
gYDEuM9g0hE I was always curious about how Kelly Bailey did those otherworldly, hissing sounds that combine soldiers from Half-Life 2 make when they die, so I did some research and experimenting, and it sounds like I've pretty much got the technique. Basically, it's voice processed in a peculiar ...

Re: It's fine to rip game resources or it's somehow illegal?
Can't speak for graphics or code, but stealing sounds can absolutely bite you in the arse if the sound that you're using just happens to belong to a proprietary library, or even just have a proprietary sound as a layer, but as long as you're not outright appropriating or selling them or distributing ...

Re: The WIP Thread
A quick and dirty take on player sprites: R8l63wpTEmE for a typical Soviet rifleman c. 1941-1942. Right now the sprites can only show the player carry a Mosin rifle. The images are 2x larger than stock Doom sprites, so the player actor was shrunk accordingly. I tried to preserve the best of the ...

Re: Question for people born outside of the U.S.
I'll join Matt here in noting that Americans in general seem to have a bit less "restraint", if you know what I mean. But isn't it quite a moot point? We're talking about a social group on a scale of hundreds of millions of people and, depending on whom you're talking to, both the "lazy wankers who ...

Re: How to get the sector tag by the calling actor in ACS?
Sorry, but I don't quite see how that does it. This function requires a sector tag to do some kind of a look-up. I need to get the tag of the sector in which the script calling actor stands. Is it possible right now?

Re: The WIP Thread
A quick test of pre-defined environmental sounds: KnyP1zHUUJY Unfortunately, the way this is implemented right now is quite hacky and relies on the map designer to make the magic happen. An ACS script looks up the TERRAIN corresponding to the floor texture that the player is standing on, and a sound ...

How to get the sector tag by the calling actor in ACS?
Basically the question. Is there an ACS function that returns the tag of the sector which the calling actor is currently in? If not, could it be worked around?

Re: The WIP Thread
A follow-up on the PPSh a week earlier: So I've altered the way I capture animations a bit for smoother motion and decreased offsetting during shooting. I had to capture a different gun, which is an MP 40. The one addition is the aiming mode that I decided should only affect bullet spread and the ...

Re: The WIP Thread
Hello everyone, I haven't posted on this here forum in an awful while. I've been having thoughts about a WWII-themed mod for multiplayer, so I tried to quickly throw together a PPSh for Zandronum, with smoother animations and state transitions, and sound that doesn't stutter. What do you say about ...

Re: ZDoom project ideas you have
Is there any one other man who's interested in making a Vietnam war-themed DM mod? Cause if so, I can work in the graphics/sounds/basic scripts department.

Re: [Sound] revo794's stash - Doing work on requests!
Is it for your/his project? Depends, since unless the mod is not very serious in intent or if you just plain don't prefer it, it's often much easier to simply use voices from other games. If that's impossible, feel free to send me the specifications and I'll throw together an example. Otherwise, I ...
