Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
Brushed up on quantum computing. Is it doable, especially considering the cooling needs? Could the tech become reasonable for the consumer ( A desktop? Never mind a smartphone!) within the next decade or so? What are your thoughts?

My God! And I thought I had it dangerous on my bike! Karma be damned, I say! You've suffered more than enough for any number of lifetimes! May you have nothing more than happiness from this point on!

Gamesack finally did an MSX review. I wonder if they have a PC98 one in the works.

Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
Something that's been on my mind for a while now:
Do people with deep knowledge and experience with computers (programmers, engineers, etc.) still feel a bit of the magic of these technological marvels, or from knowing the insides so well, has that feeling dissipated?

Re: What is to come after flash drives?
Yeah, these flash drives are rather expensive, but they've been so reliable for me. I've had a 256 GB one for two years now, and will probably have to wait 1 to 2 more for the 512 GB to be affordable. I usually wait till they are between $50 and $60.

Re: What is to come after flash drives?
Is it best for now to stick with flash drives and/or (micro/mini) SDs for regular transport? I always keep a couple in my wallet in case of a fire or whatever, so I'll still have my data. I've read that portable hard drives are still crap, though.

Re: What is to come after flash drives?
Thanks! Makes perfect sense now! But how far have these drives come? I remember reading about too many failures years ago. Has this been resolved? What's their expected lifetime without error?

Re: What is to come after flash drives?
Why are they called solid state drives? Every time I hear "solid state" I think 1960's transistors, not massive blocks of computer storage.

Here I go again, always remembering something or coming up with something later or afterwards. Matt: Your post is the one that nudged me to try and make amends. At this point, that's all I ever wanted, anyway. Neuralstunner: I don't have what it takes to make mods like many of you here, which is why ...

Thank you for posting things in the way you have in the latter part of this thread. Yes, I made mistakes, and repeated them, and I'm sorry for that. I have unsolvable problems, too! I am totally a nerd, and damn proud of it! Of course, this means my social skills take a nosedive. And yes, I am ...

Re: Thank you, and Good Night. (Lock, please!)
Alas, I have failed, as said in the post. None of us understand each other as well as I would have liked. Another case of, "If you knew me in person, then . . ." But oh well.
Regardless, I still say:

****PLEASE do not respond to this post! Simply lock it, and leave it as is. Thank you!**** Well, after nine years in this forum, I am calling it quits. No matter how I try to say or explain things as of late, I seem to come across badly. I've tried to make amends, or at least come to some mutual ...

You mean something they could control the content of? Like a skin grafted iphone?
Seriously, though, growing up with ideas that were still only science fiction until the past decade or so leaves me keenly interested.
