Re: The "Fresh Free Game Deals" Thread

Thank you for that one! I had noticed it on GOG but didn't know it was also being given away on Steam.

Re: Maps that need compatibility settings.

This one is more serious. Suitcase of Gor (aka Doom 2 Redux) by Tarnsman, MAP08. One of the teleport landings (Thing #521) is only flagged for Hard, creating a potential softlock below UV. It's not along the critical path, but if a hapless player goes to find the secret area near the end they will ...

Re: Maps that need compatibility settings.

I have a couple of fixes for The Darkening Episode 2. Not sure if these will be added to GZDoom directly, they prevent 100% but don't stop progression, but I'm posting them just in case. MAP07 has a few nobles in a teleport ambush at the exit, but they never get activated because the door between ...

Re: Maps that need compatibility settings.

Infernos map E3M6, the BSK (thing #39, pos 488,896) is not flagged for Easy difficulty, and it is needed for both normal and secret exit, which makes the map impossible to complete on ITYTD and HNTR.

Re: Hell-Forged - Episode 2 (Restarting Eventually)

I have seen something very similar to what you're describing in Refracted Reality . There is a "hub" map from which you can access all the others but it's not actually a hub in the GZDoom or Hexen sense (in fact I don't think the cluster is defined at all). The hub map just has a complex script that ...

Re: GZDoom 4.12.2 released

Thanks for the post, you made some very good counterpoints. I hadn't thought of the language menu, it's definitely a great addition and will hopefully bring in even more users. On examining it further the options that got moved to the second tab are not ones that should need to be changed regularly ...

Re: GZDoom 4.12.2 released

I admit I'm not a fan of the new launcher, it looks nicer but I liked that the old one had all the information visible all at once without having to go to another tab to adjust settings. I almost always use an external launcher though so the change doesn't bother me. I will miss the old text ...

Re: The City of the Damned : Apocalypse | Remaster | v2.0 | Oct, 31st 2023

I admit I got a bit confused, I downloaded a v2.1, which had the bak files and the nashgore pk3, but the current version is v2.0. Am I missing something or is this v2.0 the latest and the one we should be getting?

Re: GZDoom 4.11.1

From seeing this changelog, and other things posted in the past (especially by Graf), it seems the goal is to ultimately get rid of OpenGL entirely. I understand the rationale, and personally I use Vulkan and even on my almost decade old hardware it runs so much better. However I wanted to warn you ...

Re: Maps that need compatibility settings.

Genesis of Descent E1M2 is impossible to complete on ITYTD/HNTR. I had to decompile the ACS script to figure out what was going on, basically at one point you get locked into a room and have to kill exactly 3 enemies with TID 215 for the door to unlock. One of these is a Baron tagged for only ...

Re: [Community Project] The 20 Heretics Challenge [Released]

You can get the custom intermission working on 4.10.0 if you edit StatScreen.zsc and change both instances of finished.mFont to finishedp.mFont. It didn't seem to mess up anything else that I could see.

Re: GZDoom 4.9.0 released

I just noticed that the patch notes for 4.9.0 have this change: carry over the tiling flag from the finished to the entering screen Unfortunately this seems to revert a bugfix that was introduced in 4.8.2: fixed background tiling for summary screen. As a result 4.9.0 now has reintroduced a bug that ...

Re: GZDoom 4.9.0 released

RIP SoftPoly (though I doubt anyone was still using it) I also laughed at "removed some redundant chaaracters". Please tell me you did this on purpose :P I really like the new mirror tags, both have much potential in atmospheric/horror wads. I'd really like to contribute and participate in the ...

Re: [Community Project] The 20 Heretics Challenge [Released]

Sorry to resurrect the thread to be the bearer of bad news, but it seems like this has problems starting in GZDoom 4.8.2. I get the following 2 fatal errors right after LoadActors while the game is starting up: Script error "20hcc.pk3:zscript/statscreen.zsc" line 154: Left side of mFont is not a ...

Re: The "Fresh Free Game Deals" Thread

All of the DLC for the following games are now free on Origin due to the "Bioware Points" system used to purchase them being discontinued: Mass Effect 2 Mass Effect 3 (excluding Multiplayer Packs) Dragon Age Origins Dragon Age 2 This seems to be a bit broken right now. I was puzzled initially when ...
