Re: What games do you play other than Doom?
How did that pass thru QA? No idea, gaming industry has always been weird like that with botched games at launch after all - Blood 2, Batman Arkham Knight, CP2077, you name it. Stalker SoC had a fairly lengthy development as well, but it's considered one of the least buggy entries, and having ...

Re: What games do you play other than Doom?
Recently got finished with Resident Evil 6. Overhated game this one, but I had a blast with it. Next up I'm gonna do Burnout 3 Takedown, and once that's out of the way, I'm torn between Stalker Clear Sky or RE Revelations. The former will absolutely need the unofficial patch to properly enjoy, as ...

Re: Epic Games is de-listing and stopping sales of old Unreal titles
As for the fear of losing your game library one day? Well actually Valve at least's gotchu fam, apparently they've recently been testing a killswitch internally, so in the extreme case of Valve going under one day, all games decouple from Steam. Valve going under isn't the only way to lose access ...

Re: Epic Games is de-listing and stopping sales of old Unreal titles
As much as I absolutely sympathize with the distaste towards DRM, I still feel like Steam, GOG, et al are preferable to what we used to get with physical releases. I say, look at where the physical game marketplace is right now, for games that were always physical, i.e. anything released before ...

Re: Epic Games is de-listing and stopping sales of old Unreal titles
I don't think Steam is necessarily bad. For one thing, it's convenient because it made it way easier to buy games legitimately in my country (NB: I mean the time soon after it first appeared - right now it's a bit more complicated) instead of resorting to piracy in various forms, plus your game ...

Re: Epic Games is de-listing and stopping sales of old Unreal titles
I think you read too much into this. I doubt they are trying to "erase history" - they simply don't care and decided it was administratively easier for them to de-list the games. That way they would never have to hear about them again. Seems a lot of people don't realize those running AAA game ...

Re: Epic Games is de-listing and stopping sales of old Unreal titles
I honestly don't get why they would deliberately damage their income. Considering their age, probably because: - They're not even profitable anymore, and since Epic's focus is elsewhere nowadays, it probably makes no sense to keep selling them, as they're hardly making any profits in the first ...

Re: Epic Games is de-listing and stopping sales of old Unreal titles
If Epic released a new single-player Unreal game, I'd buy it immediately. But alas, it seems the whole Unreal franchise is dead now. A man can dream, though... It very much is, yes, even the development of the Unreal Tournament reboot was very troubled back when it was still in active development ...

Re: Can you recommend me some mods for Raze?
Most of these installers are from before Raze even existed. I found that most Blood mods just work fine if the zips are loaded as-is, there's only a small number that have such a screwed up setup that without explicit installation they won't work. Luckily, a number of those have been repackaged ...

Re: Can you recommend me some mods for Raze?
There are tons of user addons for Blood. Death Wish is probably the highest regarded, but I also recommend French Meat and Way of Ira . For Blood, there's also CWHHROT, Bloody Pulp Fiction, Eviction, Bloodlines, Trauma Therapy, Dark Times (WARNING: If memory doesn't fail me, this is basically the ...

Re: Epic Games is de-listing and stopping sales of old Unreal titles
I am surprised they even bothered to release Jazz Jackrabbit games on GOG considering those met the exact same fate when the Unreal games exploded in popularity. I can see those getting taken off the stores as well in the future. Anyone who saw Jazz Jackrabbit 3's development cancelled and didn't ...

Re: Epic Games is de-listing and stopping sales of old Unreal titles
Thanks for reminding me why buying DRM'd content is a fool's proposal. Even without DRM, they'd simply stop making physical copies and take them off the market, so I'm hardly seeing the difference here. But I concur otherwise, everything Epic has done since Fortnite's popularity exploded made them ...

Re: AMD (Windows) OpenGL is deprecated and will no longer be maintained [split]
I pretty much exclusively use Pro drivers whenever possible, nVidia or AMD. If my gaming performance suffers because of it, so be it, I don't care. I can lose a few FPS because stability is far more valuable to me. Same. But how big is the performance degradation compared to the more gaming ...

Re: AMD (Windows) OpenGL is deprecated and will no longer be maintained [split]
Maybe they'll do better on the next gen. Frankly I doubt that if they unironically believe they will actually get away with these prices which are much too steep for most people with the ongoing issues around the world as icing on the cake. AMD's latest top of the line alternative is priced at 899 ...

Re: What games do you play other than Doom?
Currently going through Paper Mario - The Thousand Year Door. Loving it so far but damn lengthy game this one.
After that, I'm torn between Burnout/FEAR or getting into Pokemon at long last.
