Now that's quite interesting! I always loved most of the Heretic map designs, so playing through them with Doom textures and overall layout would be quite a fun experience! Aside from the hidden switch to the Morph Ball room, I think it's pretty neat overall. You could have just placed only the Charge beam, since the other beams felt a bit out of place for a prologue-like map, and some of the monsters could have been kept for the full-scaled map you're working on. For a short early beta, it was pretty enjoyable. The only issue I had is when I talk to an NPC or buy something in the fire fountain, everything freezes until I choose to close the box. Also I can't see how many coins I have when I buy something. It's weird, but I guess they can be fixed. Can't wait ...

Very, very interesting. I'd like to see how this project turns out, because I do think that BD went too far ahead and made things less fun.
