I'd say a 12 gauge flare gun is the best way to go. It can function both as a close-range single shot shotgun in the early game, and perform as a splash/long range fire weapon later on when you get proper flares. If a sniping weapon were to be added, a few pages could be taken from Cry Of Fear's ...

EDIT: Okay, uh... My BulletPuffs already have the +NOEXTREMEDEATH flag, which means it SHOULDN'T gib enemies. Maybe it's a blood mod you're loading with? I know for sure Bolognese/Ketchup mods have a "health for gibbing" option. If it isn't any mod related, i think i can solve this. I'm using ...

Got a bizarre bug where a Rapid Chaingun I was using couldn't stop firing after I used a resurrect cheat. The gun, once fired, will only stop once your ammunition is dry. Was somehow fixed by picking up a regular chaingun and firing it a few times, then picking the rapid chaingun back up.

The Tesla Rocket has a propensity for frying it's thrower as enthusiastically as it does the monsters. Is that intentional? I don't recall it doing that in the 3.X versions.

Pretty much the only thing I don't like is how grenades take selection priority before the rocket launcher, and it takes a good second to switch to the RL as a result. I've tried remedying it myself, but no luck.
