Is there an ACS function that translates coordinates by portal delta?

Is there a function in ACS to translate X, Y (maybe also Z?) coordinates from a given portal layer, by accumulated portal deltas (and angle rotations, if possible) until they become relative to another portal layer which contains a reference actor? This would help compute distances and angles ...

Re: No sound in Lubuntu

Thanks, I ran

Code: Select all

sudo apt install libopenal1
and it solved the sound issue!

On other variations of Ubuntu, like Ubuntu proper, I got sound out of the box. Presumably libopenal1 is part of the preinstalled distro on Ubuntu but not Lubuntu.

No sound in Lubuntu

I have Lubuntu 22.04 and GZDoom doesn't play any sound. On initialization I see this message: S_Init: Setting up sound. Sound init failed. Using nosound. and the same error message from the second line (but even coloured in red) whenever I try to reset the sound system in-game. How to get it to ...

Crash when starting a map with several scrollers

I'm on a Mac (if relevant) and trying to load a test map with several types of scrollers. I'm using the DRDTeam devbuild of gzdoom-g4.8pre-83-g54ad3433b.zip . The level contains several uses of the Scroll_Texture_Offsets action special, with both documented and undocumented flags being used (the ...

Great, thanks. I'll use that, then.

Are there UDMF equivalents to the MBF21 wall scrollers?

The MBF21 standard has introduced three Boom linedef specials to scroll tagged wall textures according to trigger linedef's XY offsets (numbered 1024, 1025, 1026). This is an extension of the Boom special which only scrolls statically the trigger linedef's texture, without tag support. What makes ...

Re: Realm667 repository download access denied

This is an internet scourge. Sadly, the armies of spammers and spam bots are also a scourge, though at least what sites try against that is more captcha, than just log-in gating. Maybe Tormentor667 may also implement captcha per repeated download? That's what most sites do to defend against bots ...

Realm667 repository download access denied

Since last night, downloading resources from the realm667.com repositories (Beastiary, Armory et al.) is being denied to visitors. Is this a planned downtime or a glitch? Has anyone made backups or even mirrors (complete with credits and descriptions) of the resources from realm667 in case this is ...

Re: We currently CANNOT accept bugs via Discord

The reason why this is actively discouraged and why we direct people to the forum every time this happens is because of the ephemeral nature of what appears in Discord. To put it simply: It disappears, and is long forgotten about, before a dev has a chance to address it. And then we have to deal ...

Re: Doom Bot / AI by Sunbeam

Interesting idea with the autogenerated waypoints. Maybe that's a way forward for my AutoDoom to detect jump launch points. My only concern is that I should make it dynamic, it should be able to go in E1M5 and E1M7 and use the middle lifts to reach high places. Let alone "puzzles" such as in MAP19 ...

Re: Ultimate Doom Builder

Is there going to be a mode where you see all linked portal layers translated to their in-game positions? This would be tremendously useful for GZDoom and Eternity map editing! Right now I feel discouraged from making Eternity maps because none of the known editors shows me how the portal layers ...

I hate long threads. It takes too long to read if what I'm going to ask has already been said:
Better Linux compatibility implemented by dpJudas & Talon1024
Does this mean that chances for a Macintosh port have increased substantially? As long as OpenGL is still in macOS...

[Sprites] Machete with Doomguy gloves

I was bothered that the Realm667 machete doesn't use Doomguy's hands, so I edited them to be Doomguy's and to have gloves! Thanks to WildWeasel for collecting the hand templates and to Cutmanmike for posting them! https://imgur.com/m3ROx1S https://imgur.com/ijFCpvK https://imgur.com/IUZxP0f I've ...

Re: Yet another retro source port?

Thanks for discussing the fate of Eternity. If you question why it has been slowing down lately or having bad PR, it's all for human reasons: 1. I may be the most active, but I don't have definite ownership. Quasar didn't come up and say "here's your port, do what you wish with it", though ...

Re: Bethesda victimizes Wolf with MTs. I fear for Doom's fut

Isn't Wolfenstein the classic Nazi-killing franchise? Such a game would always sell because such villains would always exist in some form or another.
