Re: How do apps work on a Mac?
I've been there. Worked on a small game for a publisher, they had a big mac fanbase (boomers), so it was required to deliver to mac. Me being a windows user, I was constantly in an uphill battle with issues mac users would run into (not knowing how to right click, tons of little technical issues etc ...

Re: The Still New What Did You Last Do Thread
Just tried Quake 2 RTX to see what all the rage was about. I was expecting it to be a showcase of "what we could have in next gen games". But a lot of the effects were still based on trickery (water being the main culprit, but in general the lighting is only slightly less fake looking than ...

Re: Hexen - ELVs Project (high quality 3D mod for Doomsday)
These look great!
The real test will be seeing them in game, as the lighting can make or break the whole thing.
I haven't touched doomsday or any 3d packs in over a decade, my last experience being kinda meh but I remain cautiously optimistic for this one.
Looking forward to it!

Re: Spongebob E6M12
Doesn't look like any official map to me. Too many narrow squiggly tunnels.
I wouldn't rule it out as a vague reference, but it may not be doom, specifically.

Only just got around to playing the master levels for doom 2.
They're bad. Very bad. Some exceptions though.

Re: The Still New What Did You Last Do Thread
Just finished playing through Valheim with a couple of friends. Started on Feb 5th, racked up 212 hours for an average daily playtime of.... 7h? Yikes. It'll be nice to have my life back.
It's one of very few games I bought around release for full price, and got my money's worth.

Re: No-nonsense firewall for windows?
Yeah I want to leave comodo behind because it seemed really broken at times, and it's been a headache trying to confirm whether it's blocking something. I also caught it hogging my cpu a few times. Is windows firewall good now? I've ignored it since the mid 2000s. The interface is absolutely ...

No-nonsense firewall for windows?
Hey. I'm looking to retire COMODO as my firewall in the near future so I'm looking for suggestions on what to use with my home machine. -For Windows -Don't want any anti-malware, active scanning or miscellaneous crap. (just per-application and global policies, with ports and IPs) -Preferably a way ...

Re: So about a project I've been trying to work on...
I think it would serve you well to take two steps back from all this. Don't put your project on a pedestal, and don't let emotions control your life. Focus on something that makes you happy right now, and maybe one day you can come back to the project in a way that feels right to you. Or maybe not ...

Re: Windows or Unix
Linux doesn't respect your limited time on this earth. (if you want it to be anything more than a means to a browser) Some people are okay with that, and I'm sure it's great for those who spend the time to become an expert. Personally, I like to limit my "whole days spent googling stackoverflow" on ...

Re: (Programming) Remote connections not coming through
Ok I figured it out. I lost multiple days troubleshooting this. Here's the "solution" for posterity: Turns out, UDP requires data to be sent as it's not connection-based. I've been using online port checkers which may not even be trying for UDP, but it's certainly not sending any data. The test ...

(Programming) Remote connections not coming through [solved]
Hey, super off topic but there are some smart people frequenting this forum and I'm REALLY desperate for help. I've written an app using C#/.NET using this wrapper https://github.com/nxrighthere/ENet-CSharp which builds on a networking library called ENet http://enet.bespin.org/ (Also using a thing ...

Motherlode
I replay it every few years. The remake didn't live up to my expectations.
