Re: Chex Quest 20th Anniversary Megawad: Galactic Conflict

Yeah, I'm hearing this from others too. It looks like this issue is occurring because you're using Version 1.1. of Chex Quest 3, which is apparently the version currently hosted on Charles Jacobi's website. I'm not sure what happened to Version 1.4 of Chex Quest 3, but given that the changes between ...

Re: Chex Quest 20th Anniversary Megawad: Galactic Conflict

Hopefully this won't be considered a worthless bump! It was pointed out to me by members of another forum that my download links for this project had gone down. Upon receiving an e-mail about it, and of course having nothing better to do in quarantine, I spent some time playing through these levels ...

Re: Chex Quest 20th Anniversary Megawad: Galactic Conflict

This looked amazing the moment I saw it. I'm really sorry for missing it when it was first posted. LOOOVE chex quest! I loaded it up last night and it's really fun, you did a great job and captured the feel of the original very well. My big criticism is the pillars on the teleporters. It's really ...

Re: ZDoom is Dead. Long live ZDoom.

Just checked the site a few minutes ago out of curiosity, and I have to say I'm quite shocked. Haven't been a member here very long--joined last year to post a project that had been in the making for four-and-a-half years--but I have been playing ZDoom for far longer than that. My first exposure to ...

Re: Is the Doom modding scene finally dying...?

SLADE 3 has a fully functioning map editor and works on OSX. So there isn't much stopping you unless you're dead set against SLADE 3 for some odd reason. I have SLADE 3 for macOS and have used it before. It's just that I've used Doom Builder for four years and I don't have the time to master SLADE ...

Re: Is the Doom modding scene finally dying...?

Sounds are quite fun to mix around with! As has been stated, Freesound.org is amazing if you just plain don't have anything to record with, but even a crappy $5 microphone can get you some usable material if you're doing the right stuff with it. Whack your microphone against a bedpost and suddenly ...

Re: The official "ZDoom on Mac OS X" thread.

This worked! Thank you. No idea why I can't see the file in Finder; looked in both Preferences folders and even checked for it with hidden files and it didn't show up. It's there, but apparently Finder can't see it.

Version 2.2.0 in the startup window, but showing as 2.8.0 in the app properties.

Re: The official "ZDoom on Mac OS X" thread.

Thanks for the info, but for some reason neither the zdoom.ini or gzdoom.ini is showing up in that folder (checked hidden files and no luck, either). Any idea where they might be instead? Did a normal drag-n-drop installation of GZDoom from the .dmg onto 'Applications'. Replaced the old GZDoom app ...

Re: The official "ZDoom on Mac OS X" thread.

So maybe someone can help me out here. Apologies if this is a stupid question, but I've searched through a few forums already for about an hour and don't feel like wasting any more time out of my weekend. I downloaded the newest GZDoom for macOS today and I quite enjoyed most of the changes. However ...

Re: Chex Quest 20th Anniversary Megawad: Galactic Conflict

Not really helpful: I know there is a secret area, but I cannot get to the teleporter that leads to it because of said pillar. Said pillar.jpg Can't you just tell me what I have to do? :? Go to Teleport Station C, and enter the teleport in the corner. It should take you to a dead-end room with a ...

Re: Chex Quest 20th Anniversary Megawad: Galactic Conflict

Oh, right! And I have completely forgotten about the "secret" command console... :? Still, I am in E4M3 now, and even with the clue, I cannot figure out the last secret. I guess I have to lower the pillar near the end in order to reveal the secret teleporter, but I do not know how to do that ...

Re: Chex Quest 20th Anniversary Megawad: Galactic Conflict

Some feedback regarding E4M2: The door to the large elevator takes a while to open, so this initially led me to think the switch activated something else. Since it is not immediately obvious that there is even an elevator behind the door, I just assume I had to backtrack. Not a big problem, but ...

Re: Chex Quest 20th Anniversary Megawad: Galactic Conflict

By popular demand, I've updated the wad to include music for each level. All songs on the game are from the CQ3 IWAD. The links are below and also updated in the OP. Chex Quest: Galactic Conflict (bundled with ZDoom 2.8.1) Chex Quest: Galactic Conflict (bundled with 32-bit GZDoom 2.1.1) Chex Quest ...

Re: Chex Quest 20th Anniversary Megawad: Galactic Conflict

Of course, you're welcome to play it however you want. If you want to add music to it, that's cool with me, 'cause I really had nothing serious in mind on that front. 8-) Anyway, on a different topic, why are there two red keys in the first level? When I first built it, one of those was a yellow ...
