Re: Movement speed questions

Interesting stuff, thanks. It seems in Doom (and also Duke 3D) it just feels safer if you're circle strafing, and even shimmying back and forth with strafing makes it feel like enemies miss you with hitscan weapons more often than if you're standing still or moving slower. But it is interesting to ...

Movement speed questions

Had a couple questions about movement speed. One is, how fast do you have to be moving to be less likely for enemies to hit you? Is circle strafing at walk speed comparably good to doing that at run speed for example, or strafe run speed? Also, if you go even faster than the game allows (turbo ...

Re: Raze is not dead yet...

Right on, thanks for the reply. Wondering about maps a bit still. I see eduke 2.1 is from 2004. Does that mean that Duke maps made after that, which were typically made for eDuke32 users, those won't work? To be more specific, say the vanilla style maps "Sin Center" and "Done and Dusted", from ...

Re: John Wick DOOM?

Sounds good to me. :thumb: In general action movies can make for great mods, Action Half-Life is a big fav of mine. Some of the coolest multiplayer maps.

I'd enjoy a nice cinematic action movie-ish Doom campaign. (not that Action Doom isn't action packed, of course.)

Re: Raze is not dead yet...

Very cool to see you're making a new port for Duke. Reading on your posts about support for eDuke32, I still had a question. You mention not supporting eDuke32 mods. I'm curious if vanilla Duke user maps will work? Stuff that was made for the original version? Also if limit removing vanilla style ...

Increasing horizontal autoaim? Accessibility settings etc.

Hi, I was wondering if there's a way to increase the horizontal auto-aim? Significantly, so that you'd hit an enemy even if you aimed an extra enemy's width or two away from them. As if they had wider hitboxes etc. The reason I was wondering was since I've had some WASD/mouse related rsi stuff etc ...

Thanks, that's good to know. After messing around with it 4x multisampling looks good to me too.

Thanks! That works like a charm.

While I'm here, I just have to mention this mod is as ever an incredible work. Triumphant. :thumb:

Comparing various texture and video settings

Hi, big fan of GZDoom, and I've recently gone down the rabbit hole of messing with and comparing tons of video settings. I like the pixel art look in the GL-enhanced world rendering, and I've had texture filter mode on "none (nearest mipmap)" with 16x anisotropic filtering forever. Had never messed ...

Re: [Release] The Trailblazer - 1.4c, Slow yourself down

For the record I just tried merging the patch into Trailblazer, via extracting them both to folders, pasting the patch contents into the main folder, then putting it all into a zip file. Then running that, or renaming the zip to pk3. I get this error: Script error, "Trailblazer_v1.4c.pk3:decorate ...

Re: [Release] The Trailblazer - 1.4c, Slow yourself down

Big fan of this mod! Been a while, been getting back into the ol' Doom scene. Here's a new version of my fix pack , which fixes the FMG bugs mentioned by Stock-Doom, as well as attempts to prevent flares from moving if the player has the flare performance fix turned on. Fix pack for Trailblazer 1.4c ...

Re: Smooth Doom

Hi why I can't see the smoothdoom options menu when I press esc? Didn't see anybody quote this, but I was having the same issue. I guess it's just the recent GZDoom broke that older version of SmoothDoom, if you were using that too (I had one I got in June). Since if I (using ZDL) switched it to ...

Re: Newer Doom-like game?

Half-Life 2 may be a happy medium. I haven't modded or made levels for it, I'm sure it's tough, but possibly less tough than games 10 years newer than it. There are at least plenty of multiplayer TCs for it and lots of weapon replacements.

Possibly a Serious Sam game also?
