Spoiler:3/20/07 - Uhhh see my most recent post.
Note about updates - I hope to update this thread and documentation at least once a day and add onto or modify it at least a little bit daily.
9/23/05 -Spoiler:9/26/05 -
Solarsnowfall will be co-leading this project, since I will not be available to answer all your questions. I've told him all my plans and he knows what's going on. He will be helping me on a lot of aspects to this project. Map layout section has been added.Spoiler:9/27/05 -
Stopped doing sign-ups, but still looking for interested people. Added the dungeon map layout concept, and will build it more as I get more of a storyline developed. We need a test mission to follow for this engine to be developed by. I need concept maps for a town and a Dungeon as well. I'll start working on my own version, but it wont be as good as someone else making it as I'm a very impatient mapper. Updated storyline.Spoiler:9/28/05 -
Began work on monster stat arrays and making sure it's easy to add to it. Began concept work on menus etc. Also added beginning documentation on battle system and dungeon layout.Spoiler:9/29/05 -
Did some minor updating of the monster arrays, and removed the bit about needing resources for this concept map.Spoiler:9/30/05 -
Added player statistics section. Working on concept for dungeon layout, hopefully that will be in by either today or monday. I would also like to welcome Deathz0r to the mapping team.Spoiler:10/3/05 -
End of the month woo hoo! Added the monster alogrithim section. Added to the basic dungeon layout. Added to the Encounter system. Added to the Monster Arrays section. Updated camera effects. Beginning thought about how to code attacks and magic effects. Baseline dungeon requirements are in, however they are not official. These requirements are the beginning however, and possibly more will come, but I'm not quite sure yet. I will be gone for the weeked, as I am going to my grandparents house and they do not have internet.Spoiler:10/4/05 -
Added region function information. I believe the documentation is getting to a point in which I can start coding. Tags with the 'under construction' description are things I'm currently working on. I've begun coding the camera scripts and baseline functions. These functions will also be posted in the ACS Prefab Database Thread. Added the experimental Equipment section. I may or may not implement this feature with consideration to the flexibility of the scripting and inventory systems, as I want all of this to be functional through a game-save. Added to the Magic and attack effects section, a general idea about how they will be done is listed there. Updated the experience calculation concept. Experience will be collected and then 'spent' to gain new abilities and such.Spoiler:10/6/05 -
I have completed 1 of 4 camera routines, and have begun work on the region function. I will be going over general map specifications, and chances are, should have it all figured out within the week. Once I have the camera routines done, I'll be moving on to the shops and menu scripts. WOOT! STORY LINE UPDATED!Spoiler:10/11/05 -
Updated region function with command line parameters and explanation for each argument. Working on collecting some baseline spell gfx and melee gfx. Working on battle system framework and getting all the camera routines together.Spoiler:10/16/05 -
I'd like to welcome Chaoscentral to the team as coder and mapper! Construction has begun on the menu system, work continues on the other parts mentioned before. Spell GFX are coming along nicely. Phase II of the project has begun. The equipment system is no longer a dream! That shit is going in! WOOT. Documentation is almost completed. Begun work on getting the stat arrays to be displayed and getting basic statistics available. A demo wad with a mock test battle will be released as soon as the menus, spell effects, and melee efffects are done.Spoiler:11/15/05 -
Holy crap it's been 5 days?! Why am I not working on this as much?! ARGH! Anyway, I'd like to welcome SirTimberWolf to the mapping team. The dungeon is currently under construction by SirTimberWolf. I'm continuing work on the stats, and the concept of starting classes is begin thought of.Spoiler:11/29/05 -
Ewww, I've left this out for too long. Anyway, I've got more stat variables in along with a good idea for a display routine for general menus etc. Still working on a lot of concept work, but hopefully the battle system will be started soon. Documentation has been updated enough to add 2% to it. Display algorithim is being sorted out and should have a demo wad to be discussed in this thread soon. Aside from that, the forced chasecam script is pretty much done, and it seems to me that I'll only have to code one last camera script, as the rest of the cameras will have to be coded by the mapper and put in manually, as I can think of no easy solution to it. Oh well, maybe you guys can come up with a suggestion or two. Anyway, monster statistics have also been updated with stat effects. It's just basic stuff untill I can get the more advanced things figured out. Monster stats will follow the same design as the player stat array and will only be given vaules based upon the predefined array for that monster. Encounters are still being looked into and I'm not entirely sure if it's going to be collision based, timer based, or both depending on the level. Also, if there is something you'd like to see, please post it here. I can't gaurentee anything but it'd be nice to get some outside opinions on this whole thing.Spoiler:5/21/06 -
Bumped the documentation percentage up to 85% as the mighty book of formulas and statistics has been found. This great book has all the documentation on all statistics and calculations necessary to make this whole thing work. Last 15% is reserved towards documenting the new functions I'm gonna be adding within the scripts. Basically, it's now all up to me as far as if this thing gets done, as it seems everyone who wanted to participate has decidedly dropped out now. Oh well, I don't need you guys anyway (even though it woulda made my job hella easier). So now, it's all up to me and my MSPAINT skillz.Spoiler:
So I've finally begun to seriously code this thing, and right now I'm looking for a group of people who would be willing to help me beta test. If you're interested make a post here please.
