Scripting for dummies?

Is there a scripting for dummies program out? I don't think that it would take too much time to write a program or text file to do that. And I think that would help alot of us out there who don't know how to script. If anyone has any comments or references, that would be great.

Not bang up to date, but full of useful stuff.

Also, do what I do. Find someone who does nice, clear, well commented scripts (I picked up a lot from ReX) and work your way through them, copying and pasting and trying alterations as you go.
