[Mapping]Texture or wall patch on floor?

Post by Cage »

Is there any way to make a certain sector use a wall texture instead one of the flats? I think it's possible, I renember seeing it in simplicity wad.

Thanks ;)

Yes, provided your editor will allow you to do it, you simply enter the name of the texture for the floor you want to use it. You can also put flats on walls and use Zdoom's own TX format on either walls or floors (and ceiling of course) too.

Here's an example for you.

The following screenshot is the wall equivilant of what you are talking about.

I simply wrote the name CONS1_1 in the wall texture box on DoomBuilder, and Zdoom has put it on the wall, despite it being a FLAT (Floor/ceiling texture).

Didn't know it's THAT easy. :) Thanks, btw. is there anyway to make those textures viewed in 3d mode (doom builder) instead of "?" marks?

I think if you got the configuration menu (push F5), there's an option there called mix tectures and flat resources, ticking the box there should do it.

That's something I nevere knew about...

It does work though. Thanks KoD :)

Even better, flats now show up in the textures box and visa versa! No need to commit flat names to memory now. :D

Too late for me. I've already done about half of them. My head's going to explode.

I know what you mean. After seeing this capability and working it out, I've gone crazy using as many FLAT/texture swaps as I could find homes for. Particularly around windows, I've noticed.

Windows, beds, slopes, and especially organic places are really augumented by this feature. Too bad it's not really apparent in the wiki.

Another question: is there a way to pan, rotate and resize floor texture? I tried to resize the floor, and it worked, but all floors where scaled, and I needed it only in few sectors. Actually the resizing isn't necesary, but info on paning and rotating (90* degrees) would be great :) thanks

You have to use scriots to do that. There's a few ACS specials for this task.

Look for Sector_SetFloor/CeilingRotation/Scale/Panning in the Wiki.
