That's different. Nodes are a kind of data that is created in addition to the existing levels, not to replace them. Besides, building nodes can take 5 seconds or more per level, not per game. What I fear is that some people release their stuff in compiled form only - and I'd really hate to see that (just see Cold as Hell's missing ACS source for one disaster that already happened.) It would also severely limit the integration of the compiled code into the game. If the compiler knows the layout of internal data structures it can much better optimize for them

Why not call it "Zoomscript"? Then we could call it "Zoom" for short.
The ZDoom public waits respectfully (with some exceptions) for the script. When I sit punching keys and sprinkling errors everywhere, I think to myself, "What do I have a computer for? Why am I supporting this expensive box of electronic surplus?" With the arrival of a scripting language we can live in efficient and error-free peace at last.

Get back to us on that when you type something a bit more understandable and meaningful.whelanirish wrote:Why not call it "Zoomscript"? Then we could call it "Zoom" for short.

The meaning is mostly for programmers, and it's humorous for them. Don t be so mean. Goodbye, forum.HobbsTiger1 wrote:Get back to us on that when you type something a bit more understandable and meaningful.whelanirish wrote:Why not call it "Zoomscript"? Then we could call it "Zoom" for short.

Get back to us when you can contribute something to this forum that isn't an unnecessarily caustic remark in response to a perfectly innocent post.HobbsTiger1 wrote:Get back to us on that when you type something a bit more understandable and meaningful.
I mean, c'mon, Jallaman was banned and this petulant child is still allowed to roam around and take out his child-hood trauma on everyone?

@whelanirish: Don't blame the forum for my bad mood. And definetly don't leave because of it. Its my fault for being an ass, and thusly apologize.
@Sir_Alien: I am petulant. Spiteful too. There are other words people use to describe me, however I won't repeat them here (because its rude to say such things). In any case my remark was out of line (here, only here) and I apologize for it (see above). I do not however take my "child-hood trauma" (lol) out on everyone.
As for contributing something, I am making a wad, just because you don't know what it is doesn't mean its no contribution. And until I see zdoomforums.wad I don't want to hear any shit about "we don't really know you're working until its done." The only people that get details on it are the ones in my IRC channel, if you want some, go there.

Nice one man. It's comforting to know that you will, at least occassionally, admit fault. You do get pissy very easily tho, but having had this discussion with you before I won't go on.HobbsTiger1 wrote:@Sir_Alien: I am petulant. Spiteful too. As you've stated, you won't change, and that's your perogative. I just think that this is one example of a very pissy trend.
True on all counts. I didn't intend to question you on your contribution of actual work, however.HobbsTiger1 wrote:As for contributing something, I am making a wad, just because you don't know what it is doesn't mean its no contribution. Really? I went into a Doom 2 game and typed "Summon Ettin" and an Ettin did spawn, although I could not see it or hear it. It appeared on the map with IDDT activated. (Either YNI or Bouncy summoned a Heiserarch or however it's spelled on me on a map I made while playing Deathmatch and the only way I even knew waht it was had been checking the map and seeing the three things circling it)skadoomer wrote:I would guess so because you can already summon any class of monster provided you give the engine the graphical and sound resources for it. I don't see why this would change.KingofFlames wrote:will sprites and sounds work for all games so you can summon monsters in any game?
(just wondering....)
